Do you know what the word "derby" means in relevance to sport? I will help.
It means an "important sporting contest". I think you're getting confused with "local derby" which is "an important sporting contest between teams from the same area".
It's in the dictionary, look it up.

Whilst it is true what you say regarding the definition, I defy you to find ANY Wigan or Saints fans to say that their "Derby" " is with Warrington... Warrington are not THE "Derby" side for either Wigan or Saints... It's just in the heads of Warrington fans..
You are like the spotty, speccy, smelly, snotty nosed kid in the school playground looking for friends. Your "Derby" is with Widnes, infact, i'm watching it now funnily enough...

got to say the hull derby has been fantastic so far, but bulls got 20,000 dont see many derbys getting that and doesnt matter how many fans there are for leeds - bulls derby because is always good atmosphere.

That must've been the first time Leeds v Bradford had a 20k crowd for about 10 years. Hull v Hull at the KC and Wigan v Saints/Wire at DW regularly get 20k crowds. |

The only true Derby in RL or any sport other than horse racing is the Saints V Wigan game. Lord Derby gave his permission for this RL game to be called a derby. Any other derby is not a true derby. It is only TV that have tried to make them so.

i think the huge crowed increase and being able to hear the wigan/saints fans on tv answers this question. warrington are the tougher game for us these days but you'l never have the same history as wigan v saints
