| Should see how well it works over here first before any talk of having it in France. Personally think you'd need Catalans (or Toulouse before Jean starts) for it to get anywhere need a decent crowd and you can't guarantee that.

| I'm not sure having a cup semi final game over there would be fair to both teams but he's probably not wrong about the crowds they could generate. Perhaps Catalans could look at taking some home games (or home ties in the cup) on the road next season like they have done in the past?

| What a great weekend that would be, getting to fly out and watch a game in Perpignan is good enough... imagine getting to watch two challenge cup semi final's!
Can't imagine attendances would be as good as when hosted in the UK though.

| To be fair to Mc he's turned Catalans results around recently, albeit they didn't look anything special last night, but that sums up SL today.
As for CC SF in France, is there anything to lose??

| A challenge cup semi final in the South of France is a great idea.
Steve McNamara has completely turned the Catalan Dragons club around, he is certainly the coach of the month for May.

| Quote: Charlie Sheen "It's an idea worth exploring IMO.
I'm glad Catalans seem to be doing well, I've never been a big fan of McNamara, but I think some of the criticism, and personal insults that have been thrown at him over the past decade have way OTT'"
Totally agree.

| What is he supposed to have said that is so wrong ?
He appears to be banging the drum for French RL and Catalan Dragons, which is his job, surely ??

| Agree with the other posters in that I really don't get the "hate" that others seem to have for McNamara.
If he's not good at his job, then that's his issue. Lots of people aren't and yet they don't seem to get the flack that he does. His time as coach of England may not have been his finest hour but let's be honest, he's in good company in that regard.

The thread was started by a Leigh fan. They get offended by anything to do with Canadian or French rugby league

| He inherited a culture at Catalans that was always going to take time to turn around. He's had a decent run of results lately, and is nowhere near as bad a coach as some people perceive him to be.

| Find a proper number 6 for Catalans (and I assume that this will be Samuel Tomkins' position in 2019) and you will see Catalans in or close to the top 4, even with Steven McNamara at the helm.

Do you think other teams won't strengthen? That's a little like a Wire comment as there's always next season. Catalans have to get through this season first.

Very true! Wonder if Tomkins would end up joining should Catalans go down.

Agree 100% even as a fan of the red side of Hull I would have had him before we got Sheens. I have met him a few times & found him very focused on his job & people forget the mess he has inherited at the bulls & Catalans, he also left England in a good state. I also expect he will do a good job in France.
