Wigan are not trying to get his ban shortened.
His ban ends June 23rd 2011.
The idea that Wigan are trying to get him to play for the club prior to then is ludicrous!

The reigning champions......something you've not had to worry about for a few years love.

They are trying to get his ban shortened!

His ban is from all involvement in rugby league, including training - Wigan want him to be allowed to train with them before then and are therefore attempting to have his ban shortened.

2 years means 2 years!

for what it is worth, he is banned from training with a RL club until June - therefore Wigan are trying to get that portion of his ban reduced.

The argument they are using is that it takes longer for an athlete in a team sport to get back up to speed than someone in an individual event. Either can do all the training they like on their own but a sprinter (for example) can be pretty much ready to compete the day after the ban expires, where someone in a team sport has to get used to plays, timing of runs etc..

I'm not saying I agree with the argument but the precedent has been set by a footballer I believe.
Maybe they should force them to eat mcdonalds and do no training until the day the ban is up.

I have to say that Sean O'Loughlin is the best 13 in the comp by a long way. If Peacock keeps getting injured then he's definitely up there with the top candidates for England captain.
