As i said after we beat New Zealand. We believe we can beat NZ, however, we do not believe we can beat Australia.

destroy them in the middle, with Sinfield using his GF style kicking game. No letting the ball get to the Slaters and Inglis's. No errors.

don't give the ball away once, don't give a single penalty away, score evry time we have posession.

Can't see it myself - even on an off day the Aussies have too many points in them. To enter fantasy land for a second we would need....

- Australia to enter with an over the top arrogance
- England to genuinely believe from 1-17 that they can win
- England's pack to play with massive aggression, intensity and lack of errors and penalties for the whole 80 minutes
- the best kicking game and kick chase we've ever seen from an England team
- every other England player to have the game of their lives
- poor weather
- the bounce of the ball and ref's decisions
- half of the Aussies to have stinkers
etc etc....

Basically, as a Leeds supporter the last few years apart I'm used to us failing dismally when it counts. It'll take Leeds winning the comp for another 10 years on the trot and England to win every game for the next 5 years to make me even feel half confident watching either team in a big game.

Seriously, if we can make a real game of it nobody should get too upset if we lose. On paper this Australian team is far superior across the entire backline. I'll be as miffed as anyone if we capitulate yet again and lose badly, but if we can at least leave the field knowing that the Aussies have actually been given a hard game when it counts, then we have a platform to build on. After last year's World Cup that would be a tremendous achievement in itself, regardless of what some (generally Australian) would say.

Bring back Sean Long from retirement. Best kicking game from any British scrum halfthat as ever played the game and unlike some, he as actually stood up against the Aussies! He destroyed them in Sydney!

I think that Jamie Peacock's latest blog/interview makes for an interesting read - as he states, there was a huge expectation on GB in the last tri-nations final and yet it was a team of older heads who maybe didn't have that belief that could beat the Aussies when it really mattered

Who would have thought 12 months ago that Kyle Eastmond and Sam Tomkins would have been the half back pair for a great win against New Zealand?

As always in sport, it comes down to confidence - does this team really believe that they can win... play with a bit of freedom in attack which I think youth will bring and a bit bulldog spirit in defence (i.e. knock them about a bit!!) and it could be on

I was there at Elland Road the last time as a lot of you were no doubt and I haven't felt so down during a game of rugby as I did at half time then so I'm not going to get too excited - but... if we do pull this off, after 30 years of hurt it isn't half going to feel good
