| Quote Wheels="Wheels"No. Unlike football fans we are capable of showing respect without worrying about having to drown out abuse with applause.'"
Why compare it with the Wendyballers lack of intelligence to keep quiet?
We gave Vinty Karalius a minute's applause at the Stobart when he passed away and that wasn't through the inability of our fans to keep quiet. It was a fitting tribute to a true legend who was well ahead of his time and whose influence has lived on in the game.
Both the silence and the applause have their merits under different circumstances and both show respect to the person that has passed.

| It should be the families who decide if its applause or silence.

I think that was the answer last time this came around. Personally, I think silence is more dignified, but what do I know!

| When I die (And I think one day I might, I dont know...) I always wanted my ashed to be used instead of sand and the kickoff to the first game on an Origin series seeing my remains become part of Australian sporting history.
Of course now they use rubber kicking tees.
So my hopes have changed.
Now I want Gareth Hock to snort me off the chest of some dirty wh*re.
Thats respect......

| i think if somebody has died at an older age, we should give a minutes applause ala the great sir bobby.
However if we have lost an rl figure at a young age, then it should be a minutes silence. dont ask me why, its just how i feel it should work.

| I prefer the minute of applause to a minutes silence. The life of former RL legends should be celebrated not mourned.

| Different circumstances merit different tributes for me.
To use the Bobby Robson example, I think applause is a fitting tribute to somebody who offered so much to the game he was involved in and to those around him. It was a life worth celebrating.
On the other hand, I would have imagined that a minutes silence was held at Valley Parade earlier this week when Bradford played Lincoln City - the opposition that they faced on the day of the Valley Parade fire. Of course, in those circumstances, there is nothing to applaud.

| I like the silence, not necessarily for the quiet minute but the roar from the crowd when the whistle goes. I always class that as part of the mark of respect.
