A top of the league clash between the best 2 teams albeit without a promotion spot at stake
Against a bottom of the league meaningless match with nothing at stake
The same thing would happen in most sports
Put something ' meaningful ' into both games and both crowds would have been bigger

Not been funny here but do the Widnes and Fax fans think 4k is a good crowd for a top off the league clash because i think it is crap the game for a game that has got lot apeal to me more than the other match. Salford and Wakie you got remember but Salford are building for next year and have nothing to play for there and my memory right Salford did get about the same crowds as Widnes last year when they was winning every week.

Put a guaranteed promotion spot and you would have had 6/7 ,000 on
Boxing day 2000 at the Halton stadium Widnes v Leigh at the start of the season , something like 6,500 on
Now all we have is an extended pre season qualifying comp , unless of course you are Leigh who have some very important games coming up  |

ive got little doubt widnes in SL would be pushing 6000 - 7000 in their first year of SL, and no reason why it would be pushing 10,000 if they built a good side after 3 years.
next time the RFL have to pick clubs which can add to the strength of SL not detract from it. barring quins and celtic as expansion teams, all the heartland teams must be adding to SL by having above average crowds and spending the full cap.
salfords days of promising to get the manchester market will never happen at the willows. they should be put in NL1 next time until the ground is finished.
