Isn’t Austin a winger when it comes to international selection?

As far as I can see clubs who run the player development systems certainly DO give their young pivotal players opportunities. The problem appears to be there aren't many of them about. Some say it's the emphasis on size and strength that has made it difficult for the smaller skillfull players. Lilley got a lot of time at Leeds IIRC. Richardson is getting a second chance at Cas?

Yes, and Leeds gave Walker plenty of game-time too, to be fair.
Cas seem to be prioritising a young core of English players (a spine of Evalds, Richardson, Trueman and McShane in 2021) too.
Thinking about Warrington too, they did give Dec Patton a good opportunity. Maybe I was over-critical.

He cant be, I definitely saw him in an England shirt
Mind you, I also though he was a HB and while wearing the England shirt, I'm sure that I saw him "playing" on the wing - probably my eyesight.

Evalds is 27 in a couple of months, McShane is 30. What's your definition of young these days?

How many England players have turned up in the last 15 years at an international level?

whether it fits the cas fans argument.
although we could spin it another way, why aren't cas prepared to give a young fb or hooker the chance to make a name in their spine instead of going out and signing players from smaller clubs yada yada.
it's all the same merry go round.

well to be fair, he's talking about spines, its just a little churlish that cos this season they've got 2 young english starlet halfbacks we're getting the "why can't everyone do what cas is doing' mantra.
from a team that previously had luke dorn, bretty seymou, ben roberts, rangi chase, peter matautia, Gary Lo, and Quentin La-lau Tonga-lae (gave up halfway through, sue me if its wrong) as parts of their spine.
It's easy to point fingers (fun too)

Mate, anything under 40 falls into the spring chicken bracket these days!
