There are plans afoot to build a town stadium near Jct 8 of the M1, we were consulted regards playing in it, to date we have not ruled that out.

Referees are like women, they make snap decisions and never reverse them.

| It's virtually a BBC policy now, nothing below Super League in the news section. More and more cut backs. They'll go in blogs but not news stories.

They did a couple of things on the Northampton announcement when that was made so would have expected something on this.
Most articles on various websites including BBC seem to be a regurgitation of RFL press releases of late. Considering George Riley announced it on twitter yesterday a day before the RFL made its official announcement maybe the BBC were not sent a copy of the press release (or are being made to wait for it) to discourage them from leaking any future announcements.

Even Netball has got on to their breaking news page so why not this? As wiganermike has already stated they did a good job on the Northampton announcement.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

Fear not. The RFL are looking at setting up a "within 10 miles of Batley" league. Each team will play within 5 miles of the next to enable fans to walk to an away game and be back home in time to milk the cows. Entry prices will be fixed at 2 and 6 and silver trophies replaced with the butchers best half dozen.
Meanwhile in the league which runs alongside it will allow teams to travel by mechanical horse, beam wireless images through the sky to magic boxes in people's homes and generally get exited about the fact that after nearly 120 years of trying the sport of Rugby League is gaining a well deserved national presence.
You never know what could happen if the fans actually start backing such initiatives?

Big difference is the Northampton side is linked to the football club. It therefore became a football related story and to the BBC's interest a lot more.
Great to hear about the ground improvements. Biggie for me is will the new stand have a proper press area and electricity (that may sound a silly question but I've reported at Oldham and Swinton over the last few years).

We intend to have 6 seats press area, we also have a 50mt extension lead.

On the night Leeds won the World Club Challenge the headline on BBC Sport was
'Britain wins 2 golds in European Cycling in Birmingham'

| This was the plan for the Hemel Stadium in 2010.
Quote: "Hemel's stadium at Pennine Way - for which planning permission was obtained in September 2008 - is proceeding but as a scaled down development due to the prospects of a Town Stadium being built by Dacorum Borough Council.
The Stags' Pennine Way site will be developed as a top quality training site and grassroots playing facility. It is being built on a phased basis with tenders about to be called for floodlighting, perimeter fencing and car parking. The option has not been ruled out to add the spectator facilities in the future should the Town Stadium not happen.
The Town Stadium project is in the hands of consultants who have just submitted a Stage Two report to the Council. The key details of the scheme are

| It seems to be 2 from 3 for the final spots. Chester have withdrawn their application and Medway never actually submitted one (but the RFL wanted them in)
So down to Coventry, Oxford and Bristol/Gloucester
