| Quite possibly one of the worst ideas I've seen on here, and I've seen a few bad ones.

Innovations like ensuring right from the off that the game is an uneven contest?
No, I'll stick with draws thanks.

| I'm still struggling with drawing comparisons between himself and Pankhurst, King and Jesus.
A lot of other people have had ideas which at the time were considered 'stupid'. These ideas are still considered 'stupid'. This is because they are 'stupid' ideas.
This is one to add to that pile, and not to the 'saviour of mankind' one.
As for the comment about lots of the most sucessful sports using an equivelent.. Lets look at soccer. Undoubtedly the most sucessful sport in the world. This doesn't use it. Neither do most other sports. The only ones I can think of without having to do any research are American sports, but a draw isn't a part of their national psyche. It is an established part of UK sport.
Still a stupid idea
I love a well fought draw..

| Quote: af "Yes, it would be an unearned advantage, but no more of one than being at home in the first place (I'm sure that's worth more than half a point). We're happy to wear that in the league because each side benefits equally I've the course of the year. We're even prepared to allow it in the cup where there is no chance for redress that season.
If the home side began at 0.5-nil up then we'd have more home wins which would be good for the competition and every game would have a positive result on the day, which would also be good for the competition. The away side would have to work just that little bit harder to get something out of the game. And unlike golden point, no need for added time.
The problem would be the fans. But if we'd never had conversions, and I came on here saying "How about after each try, you get a chance to kick a penalty in line with where you scored it?" there'd be plenty telling me it was the stupidest thing they'd ever heard.
Last time I brought this issue up, I think I started by suggesting Golden Point. Well I saw that in the NRL when I was in Aus and was underwhelmed. The home half point is the way to go.'"

| Start half a point up? Just coach the team to play for a nil-nil and you win every home game. Guaranteed play-offs without scoring a try

| If two teams slog it out and end up with a draw, fair result.Where is the problem in that?
Think some folk come up with an idea just for the sake of it.

Why,what is wrong with two teams getting a point each? Its a LEAGUE game.
If you come second in the table by 1 point, then it has a bearing on the league
standings.

| So, in essence, because the aussies and americans don't like draws we should get rid of them?

| Quote: af "" and after four tackles, you just... hand it over? You've not dropped it, you've not kicked it away, you have to give it to the opposition? Are you on crack?"'"
Sounds good to me as long as it's the same for both teams.
If the team at home get's 4 and a half tackles, then I reckon that would be a silly idea.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| At times it really is a wonder why anyone actually requires a game to be played on a field.
Why not bother, give all the home teams half a point and at the end of the season all have equal points, so decide the grand finalists on who has the prettiest seats and the best coloured shirt or something as arbitary.
Quite how you seperate them in a neutral venue is a challenge, but the people on here can usually come up with something.

| I have a theory. Those that aren't bothered about draws will usually be happy to split an orange and share it with their mate. Those that don't like draws will peel it in their pocket and fake a cough for each segment they sneak down their gullet.

| Quote: af "Seen it or similar enough times, left me feeling 'meh'. Better than losing, not halfway to winning, and that's the point.'"
Yes, that is the point, and that's exactly why it's a draw! They've played well enough not to lose but not well enough to win. Both the league point and the "feeling" reflect this perfectly. Trying to artificially create a win out of what is, by any other definition, a draw is a bad idea, imo, and wouldn't change the essential result which is that neither team played well enough to win. In fact, all you're effectively proposing is to simply rename draws as home wins.
