1 year of Sky money is a great deal to an organisation such as the RFL.

The RFL negotiates on behalf on the SL clubs to sell the rights to the games. The SL clubs give the RFL the right to do so. The RFL would have nothing to sell if the SL clubs did not give them this right.

The power lies with the clubs, especially the better supported ones. The Football League found this out the hard way when it found out that the top clubs wanted to cut themselves free of their control. The RFL would be wise to take note.

so 10 years worth of wasted money on wakey is what then?

The RFL don't "waste" money on Wakey. Wakey allows them the rights to sell their televised games to Sky and the RFL gives them their share of this.



However, I've had my knowledge of economics evaluated by those with Master's degrees and they found it to be worth awarding a degree so I won't lose too much sleep if someone who has never studied it thinks it "simplistic".

im sure Sky wont be fussed whether its wakey, widnes or another as the TV viewers added by that one club is minimal anyway

Possibly but at least Wakey and Widnes will still be around in 5 years time so the Sky money will gone somewhere productive. With Crusaders in, the RFL might as well just shove tenners into an envelope and post them to random Queensland cup players.

i cant be bothered picking all the faults in your 2nd bit. many clubs have wasted the RFLs money. the RFL has spent very little on trying to grow RL in wales.

It's not a case of bragging so much as pointing out that you would have to be particularly clueless to say that an economics graduate has a "simplistic" view of licencing.
