But it looks like he has seen Webb off, which makes him a good player in my eyes.

Whether he is better or not that anyone else, I am not really bothered ! as long as he keeps doing what he does for us I am happy.

Major myth, Escaré is very good under the high ball most of the time, similar to a certain S. Tomkins in size, the kid makes up for his petit build in energy and effort. He's a breath of fresh air at the Dragons and to be honest his try tally in a misfiring side speaks volumes to anyone willing to listen.

You keep telling yourself that and it might become true some day.

With his try against Widnes tonight Morgan Escare has scored 14 tries and thus climbed to equal (with Tommy Makinson) top try scorer in Super League.

It's true already, he's a good player and knows his way to the try line but isn't as strong in defence as any on my list.

He has good speed and footwork but anything other than a clear run to the line or the space to use his footwork ends in him being tackled because he lacks the strength of those on my list.




That's a contradiction, if you're only good under the high ball "most of the time" then by definition you're not good under the high ball!



He's nothing like similar to Sam Tomkins, who despite being slim is all muscle and sinew and deceptively strong and explosively powerfull due to his conditioning, apart from that Tomkins is significantly bigger than Escare.

Look, I like Escare, he's great to watch and is an exciting prospect but 2nd best full back in SL NO!
Maybe in the future after he's rounded his game and improved a lot he might become the best fullback in SL but he's a long way off that right now.

Take it from a fan who knows Morgan well and sees him on a regular basis. I'm not saying he is necessarily 2nd best as I don't judge players that way but he deserves far more credit than you give. Every full back has their moments under the high ball and from what i have seen Morgan is similar to the likes of Tomkins and Slater on that front.

His positioning in Catalans attacking moves is also exceptional as well as his explosive speed off the mark, these combine to contribute to his outstanding try tally - if he was English he would be hailed as the second coming of Jesus Christ.

And his try against Warrington near the end of the game the other week? Could the other full backs on your list do that? Was that just Morgan using his 'footwork and pace'? I would stop watching rugby league it it was just a contest of strength and muscularity.

Another 90 metre sprint against Hull FC gives Morgan Escare 15 tries, at the top of the SL try scoring list alongside Tommy Makinson.

Very good player, but I wouldn't swap him for Shaul.

And Joel Monaghan.

If only try scoring was the only factor.

He's also missed more tackles than any other full-back too unless you count Jarrod Sammut's experiment at full-back.

Morgan's problem is that he is so small and light (73 kg), so he has a hard time in one on one tackles against 100 kg or more opponents. If only he could bulk up a little (even 5 kg) he might do better.

But Morgan is not just a try scorer: he also has more try assists than any other full back.
