I agree that the gap between the top 4 (or 6 if you include the relegated SL clubs) and the bottom 4 in SL wont be as wide as it has been.
However, the point remains that the CC is going to be more out of balance than ever, as the glory seekers will up their spending significantly but, the lower club are unlikely to take the same level of "risk".
The new system brings in a perpetual relegation scrap for the bottom 4/5 SL clubs which will have a negative influence on their ability to prosper and IMO we will, within 3/4 years be having a further change to the structure, which will probably be an 8 or 10 team SL with no promotion or relegation, unless the fans and the players have got it all wrong and that we actually are embarking on a new golden era for the sport.
It's all a question of whether you have faith in the group of short term, quick fix cronies at Red Hall.

There is literally nothing that can be said or done to make some people happy, you will find them in places of work, in your friendship groups but most of all on the internet.

but youve answered it yourself albeit obtusely, it rids the SL of the problem queson of reducing the league bigger than it would have been by just cutting off the 'stale' end and letting the good ship 'top8' sail off into the sunset minus the death throes of what its left for ever.instead of a runaway train we have a much tighter SL and all but in name a second fiddle SL.The scrap in the middle will be eventually a lot better than the championship and a dog scrap for the bottom 4 so in time this 'BELT' of about 10 clubs that will almost certainly scrap each other year in year out will compete in the CC NEVERMIND smokey AND HIS 112-0 DOOM MONGERING nonsense.

It's nothing to do with being SL centric. In fact it's quite the opposite my club does very well out of this change. And yes, the Hull jet side, reliant on gifts from a generous benefactor, the club which massively over spends every year had 84 points put on them last year by Wigan at home. Ask the hull kr fans why that was, their chairman has been pretty vocal about it

I notice there has been a swing overnight in the voting. What happened there? Maybe a few went and actually read the RFL document and now understand it?

I think it's less of a swing, but very similar to another poll on another site some months ago, when this was proposed.

Again on that thread the nay sayers came in hard and early. But as a few days past, those who wanted to wait and see more detail, after a bit of thought came forward and the 8x8x8 system caught up and in the end took the lead.

Change is difficult for most people. Better the devil you know etc.

So it's quicker and easier to vote no as you just stick to your guns.
Those who are not sure will hold back until they have actually took the information on board.

Doesn't make much difference IMO, the bottom SL clubs will still lose money compared to current fixtures, the championship clubs still won't have the money to be ft and competitive with the bottom clubs and if someone does get promoted they still won't have enough time to build a decent squad.

So IMO not really.

You can make anything work within its limitations... The new sponsorship actually makes it worse in my opinion... The fewer top clubs are becoming less focused on self sufficiency and more greedy for a bigger share of the central fund...

I am a fan of a club that voted for this and I am in violent dissagreemnt with that decision. It is a decision which will ultimately be to the detriment if not downfall, of the sport as a viable professional entity, and does nothing for grass roots development.

This decision is about cutting away those who are perceived to be weak, without a viable approach to developing new and stronger replacements...
