| I feel the hatred from some fans is because they fear he will take Salford places. Anyone who thinks he isn't is deluded. He's only been chairman a few months, it's unlikely he would have brought anyone for this season. He's making strong statements, but they are getting media attention. I bet a lot more people have now heard of the Salford City Reds now than before Koukash.
The only statement I found poor was the salary cap statement. The RFL should have issued a strong statement in response to this.

| Maybe the RFL didn't issue a statement in response, Bull Mania, because they know he's right on that one! He is right, isn't he?
Anyhoo, the bile spewing from some members of the 'Rugy league family' is music to any Salford's fans ears as it means maybe, just maybe, we are on the verge of being able to mix it with the big boys. That remains to be seen. But it is barely 5 months since we played a pre-season friendly against Swinton where we gratefully accepted their half of the match proceeds. Since then Dr Koukash (for that is how you spell it) has arranged to clear the club's debt, brought in half a dozen new players, new backroom staff, and a former Great Britain coach. He apparently has 4 more already signed for next season with another 6 or so being pursued. Some opposing fans are stating he should 'shut up and get on with it'. I would suggest he already is.
We may become competitive on a weekly basis. We may win a trophy within 5 years. We may build our attendances to a decent level. We may be able to hold onto our young talented players and not have to watch them move on to other clubs a la Jordan Turner, Richie Myler, Stefan Ratchford, Luke Robinson, Daniel Holdsworth, Joel Moon, Matty Smith. We may not. But we few will enjoy the ride all the same, thanks very much.

| Quote GT="GT"You're not wrong, mate. Highly amusing stuff.
And yet you're on a Koukash/Salford thread talking about them both.
Keep going, everyone. Whether it lasts or not it's bloody funny seeing everyone get wound up because a rugby league club is daring to be different.'"
I wouldn't waste your breath with Cas fans mate, their just bitter they hate to think anyone is doing better then themselves. We've had it for years, especially about our proposed new ground. That Towns is one of the worst.

| I don't think anyone would really oppose a maverick who brought success to a flagging club. Great news really. I think people are just amused by the all the hot air. The jury's out as he's delivered diddly squat so far but really, come on, it is far to early to judge. It must have taken Dr No months to build that metal dragon and island lair before Bond took him out.
Give the man time!!

| RL needs characters, people who say it how it is and aren't afraid to air their views on the game and where we can improve. I think sometimes as a sport we're to insular and protective rather than embracing change.
Salford's new owner rather than being seen as a positive for RL has opposition fans worried. Good luck to him and Salford, if the game is ever to gain credibility than we need the emergence of more clubs challenging for trophies

| It's going to be an interesting few years. Like I said in the 'Wigan Winning Run' thread, if a club chairman shows TRUE ambition then anything can be achieved...Wigan went from the 2nd Division to being World Club Champions in 6 years so it CAN be done!!!
Rugby League needs a good shake up, why not from Salford?

And bankrupt 10 years after that. Ambition is fine, good for the sport. But that ambition has to be reasonable. We want a strong Salford club built by Dr Koucash, not a flash in the pan few years followed by a bored Dr Koucash leaving Salford up the creek.
Quote MattyB="MattyB"Rugby League needs a good shake up, why not from Salford?'"
I'll happily listen to proposals on how to improve rugby league from anyone, I've yet to hear any from Dr Koucash. I don't expect to either, it's not his main job or main priority.

| The good doctor gets headlines. That's what the sport needs. I just hope he gets the crowds in at Salford.
