I'm guessing your getting at the fact that the Man Of Steel award is meant to be for superleague games only but let's face it the players won't ignore the fact he's ripped apart the best 2 sides(apart from Wigan) in superleague in the past month in the challenge cup.
His league form hasn't been too shabby either. I'm sure I read a stat somewhere that's he scored around 20 try's in his last 12 or so superleague games.
Match winner.

Except he's not really winning matches, he's just scoring tries when the track is nice and flat.
Look, I'm not suggesting Tomkins isn't brilliant or that he's not had a good season, but it's so easy to look good in a winning team isn't it.

| Man of Steel is a title that Tomkins should never get near to, give him a slap and he goes down like a footballer - you should have to break your nose (or other bone) in a game then keep playing to win man of steel, as was the tradition
as for winning a player of the year type award, flat track bullies need not apply

| Sam Tomkins will get it, and probably rightly so, James Roby would be close for me though.

If Tomkins isn't winning games for his side then I couldn't name a player that is. Roby is supreme, a machine and without him you guys would be in a hole but he doesn't come up with those moments that take your breath away and decide the big games. He grafts himself into the ground and will always keep you in with a shout but he can't take a defence apart like Sam Tomkins can.
If we want an example of the difference between the 2 then look at the first 30 mins of the challenge cup Semi. We had no ball to play with and Saints were camped in our half yet came away with only 2 points. If the roles were reversed in that situation and Sam had that amount of time in your half do you think we'd have come away with 2 points? Not a chance as proved in the 2nd half when he scored a try and had another chalked off. He makes things happen and wins his side big matches.
I think the pair of them are world class but Sam's form has gone through the roof in the last 4 months.

| Tomkins is already the best player in SL.
He is still learning and developing.
His potential is terrifying to the rest of SL.
Wigan fans are enjoying seeing a player come through the ranks who has the potential to be very, very special even in the history of the greatest club in the game.
He is already one of the greats of the modern era. The only question is whether he goes on to rival or even surpass Hanley as one of the all time greats of world RL or merely peaks at his current level, which is beyond any other player in SL.
Tomkins - already a legend

Exactly my point. Running in spectacular tries (That Brimah Kebbie would have scored) against no hopers is easy and should not be rewarded with the Man of Steel award.
