Quote: EA "I'm not seeing you back up any of your statements in that post.

And by the way, you never do. I am of the belief that is it because you are simply incapable of presenting any argument in a manner that would have me do anything other than laugh..

Roy Masters is a quality journo who has presented some facts that put at least one of your statements into serious doubt and the others would be difficult to prove for anyone involved in the codes, let alone some nuffy on a messageboard.

Start with Roy's facts.

Rugby League - 128,500,000 TV Viewers
AFL - 124,300,000 TV viewers.

NRL attendances - 3,435,929
AFL attendances - 6,985,633

Do the math then explain this statement;

Go follow AFL at an AFL forum you gimp.'"

Gimp - wow I really have got to you;

Roy's numbers confirm everything I have been saying - more people attend AFL fixtures live and more people watch the NRL on TV.

The attendances are there for everyone to see - obviously you cannot take the NRL one's to be anything but fiction given the admission by the clubs that they have been inflated.

The TV deal is a published fact are you saying that is also incorrect

As for TV figures - they take a very small % of the views and pro-rata the number - the fact that you take these as gospel given the potential margin for error says much about how desperate an individual you are.

You need to grow up - and accept the facts

Some Cracking debate on here really good stuff .....

in my opinion The AFL is a novelty sport a bit like bob sleighing in the Winter olympics. people might watch it every now and again, as it may generate some interest, they may watch it for the odd spill, the odd laugh......... and then turn over for some real sport.....

if AR was that good the whole world would play it fortunately not many people around the world want to mince around in a vest aimlessly wellying a ball round a big field.

Quote: Serge A. Storms "Gimp - wow I really have got to you;'"

You wish.

I call it as I see it.

You aren't a Rugby League fan, you're a troll. Trolls should be treated with disdain.

Quote: Serge A. Storms "Roy's numbers confirm everything I have been saying - more people attend AFL fixtures live and more people watch the NRL on TV.'"

Au contraire Monsieur Gimp, your statement, which I posted not once but twice was;

Quote: Serge A. Storms "Rules is by far the most popular spectator sport in Australia'"

Spectators aren't just the people at the ground. Of course that depends on whose definition of the word “spectator” you choose to use. I'm sure you can find one to suit your argument, as can I.

Quote: Serge A. Storms "The attendances are there for everyone to see - obviously you cannot take the NRL one's to be anything but fiction given the admission by the clubs that they have been inflated.'"

Who here has argued that AFL isn't the best attended sport in Australia?

Anyone?

Do you have a cape Captain Obvious?

Quote: Serge A. Storms "The TV deal is a published fact are you saying that is also incorrect'"

Where did I say that?

You're trying to move the goalposts whilst the game is being played.

Quote: Serge A. Storms "As for TV figures - they take a very small % of the views and pro-rata the number - the fact that you take these as gospel given the potential margin for error says much about how desperate an individual you are.'"

A typical AFL fan's argument. wahhhh, wahhhhhh, wahhhh the ratings are rigged.

i.e. No argument at all. If the ratings put the AFL in front, you'd be barking like a Poodle with two heads.

Rugby League was this nation's most watched sport in 2009.

If you can refute Roy Masters' article, ante up or shut up.

Quote: Serge A. Storms "You need to grow up - and accept the facts'"

And you need to nick off to an AFL forum and let Rugby League fans talk about Rugby League uninterrupted by your pathetic, nonsensical whining.

So when you add it all up we're still on top!

Rugby League - 128,500,000 TV Viewers
AFL - 124,300,000 TV viewers.

NRL attendances - 3,435,929
AFL attendances - 6,985,633

NRL 128,500,000 plus 3,435,929 =131,935,929

AFL 124,300,000 plus 6,985,633 = 131,285,633

There's no doubt that we're the leading sport in Australia,and only played in two states ,oh I forgot Melbourne icon_mrgreen.gif .

RL has been battling first union then AFL with hardly any money.

union wasted millions trying to get our fans, it failed and now soccer is picking over the carcass.

AFL is now copying union by paying massive money for our players in a vain bid to pinch our fans.

the success of the GC titans forced them to put a club there despite zero interest and the new A League soccer team getting under 5000 crowds

the western sydney team will be based 30 km from where its home games will be played.

despite AFLs extra millions used against us, RL fans have stood firm behind their game. indeed the popularity of a game like the dogs / eels shows AFL doesnt stand a chance

when we get the TV deal we deserve well destroy AFL.

as it is, im just content knowing we have the most fans and that our heartlands are growing much faster than AFLs.

we have a golden future ahead of us.
