Get LEIGH outta wigan: |
|
| Quote: headhunter "So you think that the Super League TV money, which Sky pays to televise matches involving Super League clubs, is not earned by Super League clubs? And that the Championship clubs should be entitled to an equal share of this money despite the fact that Sky do not pay to televise their matches, and that the contract has nothing to do with them at all? Do you think money earned from any future Championship TV deals should be equally split between Super League clubs?'"
There you go again making things up

| Another advantage of slightly less games with smaller divisions is starting later and finishing earlier so that the so called summer sport doesnt start in the snow and the Grand Final isnt p!ss!ing down with rain.
I know everyone is repeating themselves with all these arguments, but it is quite a fun debate.

| For the fun of it because if this was to happen it would be years of planning obviously..
If anyone where to choose the teams now for 2x 10 team divisions (higher and lower) what would the teams be based on whatever criteria you see fit.

| Quote: j.c "There you go again making things up'" No, I've not made that up. You blamed Super League clubs for keeping 'most of the financial pie to themselves'. You also stated that this was a reference to the Super League TV deal. This implies that you think Championship clubs should be given an equal share of the profits from the Super League TV deal. Even if you don't think this, to suggest that Championship clubs should be entitled to any of the Super League TV money is ridiculous, as I pointed out in my previous post.

You did make it up because i said nothing of the sort.
Yes i did blame sl clubs because its a fact that they take 99% of central funds as thats what the rfl say in the link i showed you.
what you think is implied and what is actual fact are obviously two different things

Quote: j.c "Yeah i'm saying it should come from the sky tv contract'"
As I have already explained to you, Super League clubs take the majority of central funding because they generate the majority of this funding. If you think Championship clubs should be entitled to money that they haven't played any part in earning, then that is completely unrealistic.

| Its quite funny how everyone keeps posting the same views (including me) in the hope it will come true.
And exactly the same posts.
I went to that link the last time we where debating this and some of the negatives listed are things that could/should be looked at if it where to go ahead, which it will because I want it too.

| Yes - lets take a snapshot in time, base a decision about the future of the game on it, and forget all the inconvenient stuff about Sky money, broadcasting rights and the fact that several of the 'top' SL teams were basket cases in the recent past.

Quote: j.c "'unlock' so the rfl give sl clubs nearly 30 million from central funds and then sl get approximately 17 million on top of that from sky'"
I think you are reading far too much into the term 'central funding'. Central funding doesnt indicate that this money was the RFL's to do with as they pleased, it just means it came from the central source. the £30m was funds distributed to all member clubs, not just SL clubs, of which about £15m was distributed to SL clubs as payment for TV rights. Payments made from Sky, to SLE, then to the clubs, would be classed as 'central funding' even though SLE is owned by the SL clubs.
In fact, the synopsis of the 2010 annual report of the RFL shows this is actually what happens. Funds are paid, from Sky, to a company owned by the clubs and then distributed to those same clubs i.e it never belonged to the RFL.
This link will show you that the RFL had income of £22.8m in 2010, but the total central income across the RFL and SLE was £48.2m, www.therfl.co.uk/about_the_rfl/annual_report

So you now accept it comes from central funding?'" No, I never said that you explicitly stated that Championship clubs should get an equal share. I said you implied that and, as I have pointed out, you did. You claimed that Super League clubs were in the wrong for receiving most of the central funding. If Super League clubs didn't receive 'most' of the funding, that would mean the Championship clubs would have to receive at least an equal share. I'm not sure why you are trying to contradict this now, as anyone with a basic grasp of the English language can clearly see what you posted. Equally I'm not sure why you are nit-picking this and not replying to any of my other points, unless of course you agree with them. I've never once attempted to deny that Super League clubs do not receive central funding, why would I try to deny something that is clearly obvious to everyone? You were the one who stated that Championship clubs should be given money from the Super League TV contract, despite the fact that they make absolutely no contribution to that money being earned. If you want to continue to pretend then you didn't say that then you can, but here is a link to the post: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=526322&p=16872409&tsmp=1335662557#p16872409

| There's nothing wrong with SL. Leave it as it is. Apart frm Fev. They should replace Wigan. SLs crying out for a village side with a tiny stadium.
