Anyone remember that Cas fan earlier in the day who reckoned he’d signed for them for this season?

That’s if Austin is still there next year. Is a very good signing even if he is a bit overrated. Suppose a lot will depend on injury issues and who his halfback partner is but fair play to Warrington.

I think that was pretty tongue-in-cheek, given that the post also said Widdop had been made exempt from the non-fed quota and that the RFL were paying his wages.

| It’s a great signing for Warrington. He’s an excellent player and every SL club would take him.
Wire are going to have 300k of the salary cap tied up in two players though. Inevitably, that means compromise in other areas of the squad. Time will tell if the approach works.

This is a slight concern that its afforded by one or two players either a year too early from the younger player or one too many on reduced contracts.
The quality of the players coming over has improved Austin widdop merrin hurell coote n others we've already got the likes of fafita Pauli Pauli and others many teams have recruited well. Hopefully we see a very good competition next year!!

Depends really on each club. Warrington just sign youngsters and never do anything with them and then release them meaning they need to sign more established players who’ll cost more. With Leeds and their marquee signings, over the next 2/3 years we genuinely have 7/8 youngsters that will be first teamers yet because still young will still be making a certain lower wage.

Wire will surely have a significant amount of the cap tied up a a small number of players (Widdop, Austin, Ratchford, Charnley, Clarke, Hill, BMM). Lineham was also signed on big money but out of contract at the end of this season so he might be the first casualty of their spending elsewhere.
Could end up with a team of rocks and diamonds.

Yep can definitely see that. Like I said it’s ok if you got a core of youngsters coming through who are still on a lower wage but we all know when it comes to youngsters Warrington just sign them from other teams, barely play them and set their careers back before letting them go..

| Gareth Widdop will be moved to full back by St George-Illlawarra for the 2019 season. The chances are that he will be so happy playing in that position in Sydney that he will reconsider his desire to locate to the UK.

Fifita and Pauli Pauli can be removed from that sentence.

You can read Gareth Widdop's mind can you?
Is your mind reading as good as your spelling?

No but I’m not the one trying to do it, you are. And that word was spelt that way purposely.

Jean, if you're disappointed that Widdop has not signed for London Broncos, then just say so.
