| Quote rally2001="rally2001"Don't suggest merging team in this country because you'll upset people. I understand people are proud of their history but for the sake of the game mergers need to happen. It will never happen and we will always be known as a minority sport because the game is mainly played in small northern towns. I wouldn't be surprised if the game went back to semi pro.'"
don't see why a uk merger couldn't work ? the Catalan Dragons seem to have done ok with good marketing etc
maybe the answer is to go back to semi-pro ?

| On the basis that the RFL have been trying to get Cas and Wakey to merge (due to theim being only 12 miles apart), why would we want Fax in SL
ie another west yorkshire team.
Just because they have qualified and submitted an application.
Best thing to do isv ask Big Nige who should be in and we'll all nod our heads - like a chuchill nodding dog.
SL has become an embarrassment, the franchise system a sham and the sooner we become a sport again the better it will be for all concerned.
Whoever gets the nod will need a clearout of players, so why not allow the top team in the CC to be promoted. This would certainly make for an exciting finish to the season !

| Can Halifax really attract 9000 fans and close to 1 mill pound in corporate/investor income? That is what is needed to be in SL and sustainable these days. Basically 1 mill in grants, 1 mill in fan income, 1 mill in sponsorship/benefactor income.

They have had crowds a couple of times at the Shay of around 9000, and many many times at Thrum Hall, so yes they potentially could. As for the rest...who knows?

Can London, Salford, Cas, Wakefield, Bradford, widnes?
Did Crusaders?
I agree JB, I would be happier if Fax could generate those crowds and income, but it doesn't seem to be important if your face fits or you can help out!

| Quote Starbug="Starbug"Toulouse are already battle hardened to commuting the channel, 3 years in the Championship sorted that out, Mick Potter might fancy working in France again, and Bradfords Aussies might fancy some sunshine for a change, plus Faxs plans are highly speculative

Maybe so, As i said, i dont know if Toulouse or Fax would be more successful, just that it would be a bit easier for fax to get ready in with a short lead in time

I think any club that can't generate 2.5mill-3mill min isn't going to be in SL for the long haul. If you are going to add a new team then it should at least be looking like they will be around for a while. Only way to not have that sort of income is to not spend the full cap but then we end up with an even more less competitve league.
Of those teams you have listed London have a investor bringing them up to that income level, Bradford- well we know what happened there, Widnes, Cas, Salford, Wakefield are all weak teams on the field largely due tp teh fact they probably don;t have this level of income. Why add another team just to join that pack?

No thanks:
a) We're not ready
b) The more I see of Super League, the less I want to do with it. In fact I'd even go as far as watching Batley instead of Fev if we were elevated to the current moribund set up.

We probably could, but there's only one way to find out.
However, the question that lots of Cappers are asking themselves at the moment is do we want to be part of Super League? From where we are sat, our league is way more interesting, competitive and entertaining.
IMHO the standard and entertainment value of Super League (seen on TV) declines on a weekly basis, whereas the games I see on Premier Sports keep getting better and better, including the CC1 games they show.

This could be very true, i,ve seen quite a few championship games this season both live and on TV and enjoyed everyone of them.
The intensity of superleague is dropping year on year, whilst the championship games are getting more competitive. I can see the attendances in the championship growing whilst the sanitized superleague gets more and more fragmented.

Yes they did - they've appeared in 2010 and 2011 Grand Finals. They decided not submit a licence for this period but that was their own choice. Given another SL position up for stake and the opportunity to submit one, I think they would
