| Quote Wigg'n="Wigg'n"The point is, why can existing fans (season ticket holders) get in for £15 but NEW fans have to pay double that? It does seem a little unfair, and surely the whole point of an event like this is to attract new fans. If they notice that other people get in for half the price, they aren't likely to go are they?'"
Finally somebody sees my point , surely there is a price structure that can reward season ticket holders and attract new supporters? (We can put man on the moon but cant do this... )

| Quote Mild mannered Janitor="Mild mannered Janitor"What is your point?
MM is not the GF or CC but to someone who is going to a game for the first time its largely irrelevant. GF and CC are not often great games due to what is at stake.
If you are that bothered, take your friends to your own clubs home games.
On the basis you are calling it the "tragic" weekend, I am guessing you are a glass very much half empty type. In which case, do everyone a favour and emigrate to somewhere you can find top level sport for less than a tenner a game
'"
My point there is that the GF and CC final has more prestige and attraction than MM obviously, so fans (new or otherwise) are willing to pay £30 to attend.
The 'Tragic' tag is tounge in cheek, i have friends who are season ticket holders at other clubs and will not pay £15 to go and watch MM this year purley because of the location, if you know Eastlands, Etihad is a good 20-25min walk from Piccadilly station with limited public transport links if you are not driving. Just as importantly there are limited bars, restaurants, outlets etc around the stadium unlike Cardiff, i hope the RFL have considered this...
Rather than glass half empty i would say 'realistic' and looking to improve our sport hence me trying to attract people to watch it

Do many people go to away matches on the trains? I'd say there's lots of grounds in the league that are more than 20-25 minutes walk from a convenient train station. So I'm not really sure that train station locations has played a part in deciding on a venue.
And with your original point I suppose it comes down to how much you love the game, and can market it to your mates. I work around the Manchester area with a majority of people who don't really watch RL on TV, and none of them go to games. Yet I'll still get a group of tickets for the grand final every year for us all because I told them it'll be a great day/night after, and they enjoyed it so much we've been going every year since.
When I told them they could get a full weekend ticket for around £50 to watch as many games as they like, and a full weekend of drinking and banter thrown in they were all signing up. I've got a group of 6 of us weekend tickets, and a dozen or so others for single day tickets. Now they're not spectacular numbers, but that's pretty much just people I work with and only 2 of those watch RL on TV.
You can either big it up to your mates as a great day for £30 or you say "I know you don't like rugby league, but do you fancy paying £30 to sit through 3 whole games live?"

"Because of the location"? Wow. You'd best get on to the City of Manchester and break it gently to them that the stadium's in the wrong place. Nobody will ever come. Doomed to failure. I wonder how the Russian fans of Zenit, or for that matter Rangers fans, felt when they played the UEFA Cup Final there?
I also note that 48,000 hardy and intrepid souls managed to find the place just yesterday.

Astonishing insight. I can't imagine they did. It is too cutting edge. Wait . . . I wonder . . will they be selling any food and drink INSIDE the stadium? Left field, I know, but could be possible.

You're a whining flatcapper, who wishes he could have winter, mud and Eddie Waring back. Tell me this - what the fsck use would restaurants and outlets around the ground be to you and your tightwad mates? They won't even pay £15 for a bleeding ticket!

There is a train to Ashbury which is 10 minute walk instead and a massive £1.60 for a return ticket from Manchester Picadilly.

| I'm not a season ticket holder and got weekend tickets at £22.50 each a couple of weeks ago through Hull FC who had an offer on.
If the OP had bothered to search around and not left it too late, they'd have found these discounted tickets (I'm guessing other clubs will have had this offer on as well).
I get the impression that the OP never intended going to the event, and simply fancied a whinge.

I think you will find Football is muchmore popular than RL (unfortunatley) and the Rangers fans ended up rioting in the town centre...probably because they couldnt find the stadium.
I also note that 48,000 hardy and intrepid souls managed to find the place just yesterday.
Again City - big Premiership Club, MM - poor concept with a sport in an alien city

They might possibly exploit a captive audience on prices, a bit like the admission prices, think about it...

If you read the thread they have to pay £30 becuase they are not season ticket holders, students etc.
Bulls prefer summer do they and SL?...well they did until about month ago!!

Quote yickpie24="yickpie24"I e-mailed the RFL ticketing office a few days ago about the Manchester Magic (Tragic) ticket prices. I wanted to take a few friends with me who have never watched rugby league live but are into different sports. I asked what the cheapest option for them would be as they are not season tciket holders, students, oap's etc so do not qualify for a discount. Here is their reply:
[iThank you for your email. If your friends are full paying Adults (as opposed to Juniors aged 16 and under, Seniors aged 65 and over or Students) then £30 for a day ticket is the cheapest option.
Now you try convincing somebody that £30 to watch several RL games is a bargain, they have never been to a game, dont know what to expect and are being asked for what i would consider a significant amount of money.
Who is this event aimed at? Existing fans or attracting new support?
Thoughts...'"
