| Quote: Wigan28/Leeds18 Andy "I'm sure the oracle that is Rogues will happy put you right, from what I remember you lot went a few months before Wigan. Leeds is the one team you can't use the full-time argument as a way of explaining the 6-0.'"
Did you not know Ellery Hanley had to get a part time job as a bin man when he went to Leeds!
They are literally the only side that could never throw the old 'you were professional' chestnut at us.

Wigan were by far the better team tonight, but you don't win SL in round 2...'"
Completely wrong, no balance whatsoever :-
1983 John Player Trophy (15-4, at Elland Road) - Both part time
1994 Challenge Cup (26-16, at Wembley) - Both Full Time
1995 Challenge Cup (30-10, at Wembley) - Both Full Time
1995 Premiership Final (69-12, at Old Trafford) - Both Full Time
1998 Super League Grand Final (10-4, at Old Trafford) - Both Full Time
2011 Challenge Cup (28-18, at Wembley) - Both Full Time

| Phil Clarke can be pretty cringe worthy but Stevo is just as bad. For instance Maguire blatantly taking Richards out going for a high kick, Maguire clearly looks at Pat not the ball, gets in his way yet Stevo had a good cry about it and claims he was clearly going for the ball!??... they are all as bad as each other but it certainly wasnt all pro wigan as some people have made out.
Alibert as usual made some dodgy calls, infact, he doesn't seem to know the rules at times. but it goes for both sides, the lima ptb was a penalty.. the burrows pass was a bad one but other than that a lot of the calls where 50/50 just for once the 50/50s went to wigan for a change.
Either way, Wigan where the better team on the night and no one can argue about that. No matter how poor Alibert was I don't think it changed the result.

Clarkey does make me cringe.

What ? Eddy and Stevo are great ?
First time I have heard that one.
They're all pretty naff and I include Clarky in that, and I'm a Wigan fan.

| Judging by the tone of a lot of comments on this and other threads, you do indeed win SL based on performances in the first two weeks of the season, or even the first week.

| Thought the last time Wigan played Leeds in the play offs Wigan won.
Wigan then went on to win the Grand Final.
Leeds beat Wigan in the play offs two weeks prior to that game.
Since Leeds beat Wigan in that first play off game they have met five times and Leeds haven't won any!

Then its plain to everyone that none of the matches mattered to Leeds, as they only win when it matters. Simples!!

| Quote: MjM "The current Leeds team has despatched Wigan out of the play offs enough times that you should be familiar with the idea. Going back to when they were a loser club doesn't really add much to the debate. The 2011 cup final is all you can cling to.'"
So the 2010 play-off didn't matter? Would Leeds have won if it did?
I'm pretty sure the 3 games between the two sides in 2011 mattered to the players, even if they didn't to you.
Your coach admitted after the game on saturday that it did matter. They were planning to win as preparation for the WCC as winning is a habit.
From memory, Leeds despatched us out of the play-offs in 2004, 2007 and 2008. We despatched Leeds out in 1998, 2002, 2003 and 2010. That is more times than Leeds have 'despatched' us.

I prefer to cling on to every final played between the 2 clubs.

| In the context of winning 4 grand finals in 5 years, won 5 in 8, appeared in 6 in 8, games against Wigan are meaningless.
I couldnt care less if we never beat Wigan again, it wouldnt bother me if we didnt beat them for another 500 games never mind 5. Wigan win games, leeds win trophies, thats absolutely fine with me, i hope it carries on forever.

All games should matter to a top team like Leeds. Whether its humping 70 points past you on a lovely summer's evening, or turning over Saints for the umpteenth time at Old Trafford. It's just occasionally along the way in our 8 year run of SuperLeague excellence, one of the other teams gets a result!
It must be cold there in our shadow.....I'd wear a woolley hat my boy!
