| Cheers to the Muffin Man, the armadillo and Sadfish (never a sentence I ever thought would be possible)
So Saints/Cas is/would be all within their control which is excellent.
Wakey & Salford I suppose depends on how much they'll be charged as tenants. Though I can't see why the Trust at Wakefield would charge a stupid amount otherwise what's the point.

There are only so many teams that can frequently play in the play-offs!

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

In rented stadiums it isn't usually the rent that is the problem ( although it was the issue at Widnes , which partly caused them their financial problems outside SL pre 2008 ) it is the loss of revenue streams that is the problem
So Salford and Wakey do/will have a lot of work to do if they are to make the stadiums viable , essentially they have to replace the lost revenue with numbers through the turnstiles , both general fan and corporate
It isn't as simple as most people think

That's what they wish but not necessarily going to get - even if a supermarket is built on Wheldon Rd. Check through Richard Wright's statements and you'll find one where he slips in the fact that even if WR is sold they don't actually know if it will cover all the costs of building a new stadium and food outlets/bars etc may well be in the control of external agencies.

Rubbish. He states that the funding will be sufficient to build the stadium and that we still will continue to push on raising money as we would like to have our own catering functions. I have no doubt that whether it is upon opening of the stadium or a year down the line, that will be the case and therefore opening up an increase in revenue streams.

I meant frequently have a chance of making the playoffs, whereas now there are a good 4-6 teams who lag way behind year after year.

Ah, I see. I know what you mean. You'd put good money on Salford, London, Widnes and Wakefield not making the play-offs, and good money on Wigan, Wire, Saints and Leeds being in the top 5.

I thought Saints owed millions for this, in the shape of a £3M bond, £3M private debt facility & converting £850K of directors debt to shares. Not sure how that equates to 'wholly owned'
Wont take you long to pay it all off will it maybe 25 or 30 years if you stay successful?

The Money is owed to Directors NOT the banks , part of the loan is to buy the 999year lease on the land , the Stadium IS wholely owned by Saints, , not a stadium company or the local council or any other entity who can dictate the time of use of the Stadium or take shares in any profits the Stadium generates , I think at the time it was announced a figure of 10 years was mentioned to repay the loan part.

So if what you say is correct Saints Directors own the stadium rather than say a trust. So what happens if they leave?
Saints (the fans & club) do not own the stadium, a consortium of directors do. It's a pretty big distinction is it not.
I reckon you are being very naive.
Can you point me somewhere that shows how the stadium was funded please before I make my mind up - thanks.

who do you think normally owns any club if not a group of directors? think its a pretty silly distinction to be quibbling over TBH.

Well they either sort it out when they leave the club or they end up with a stadium worth nothing as they can hardly use it for anything else, I mean how much would they get for the office space and that is one hell of a smoking hut with a nice grass area and thousands of seats
Seems sensible to me
Quote: vastman "I reckon you are being very naive.'" They are not the only ones.
And a Wakey fan having a go at another club for building a stadium really does boggle the mind!

| Directors who are OWED money (in this case a share release) are not THE CLUB, otherwise the money would not be owed would it! The simple fact is, Saint Helens RLFC do not own the ground outright, they are paying off a substantial managed debt. That it isn't to a bank is neither here nor there, money has still been borrowed to pay for the stadium (along with sale of KR land, substantial grants etc)
That any Saints fans think they own the stadium is niave at best, your operational profit (one would think you should have no problem there)will be divided into paying off a part of the debt & the interest plus an agreed amount with the directors for their dividend. The rest for reinvestment/contingancy etc.
IF you owned the stadium outright and all the assets as some claim ALL profit after tax would go back to the club, that clearly isn't the case.
For what it's worth I think you got a lot of stadium for your money. Obviously there was never going to be enough money in the pot to get you a top level stadium but the capacity is spot on and it has that traditional look about it from inside.
I'll likely make the trip next year for a look and hopefully a win

| I've done a little bit of digging and shockingly, 75% of Saint's ground is indirectly owned by SPECTRE. To release the stadium from their evil grip they are demanding ...........................................
One million pounds !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
