Current capacity is 20,500 and the South Stand had its capacity reduced from 8,000 to 6,000 after the remedial repairs done on it.

I'd be suprised if we have more than a couple of games away from Headingley as the majority of the work will be done in the off-season and its a lot simpler build than the Carnegie Stand was.

Basically a straight replacement for the South Stand, with a slight decrease on the old, pre-repairs capacity of 8,000 to 7,400 and wider concourse at the back with more toilets etc.
There were plans a few years ago for a new North Stand but they were shelved when the cricket couldn't afford their share of it. But as the cricket are wanting to redevelop the ground now I would think that in a couple of years the North Stand will be knocked down and rebuilt.
As for the Western Terrace, well thats a tricky one due to the houses behind it. There was a rumour that Leeds had bought some of the houses but how reliable that is I don't know. I can't see much being done with the Western Terrace in the next few years, although a new scoreboard wouldn't go amiss.

| Quote: wigan_rlfc "What are the redevelopment plans at Headingley?'" Plan was to redo the north stand in conjunction with the cricket, but in what in hindsight is a very fortunate coincidence the cricket club received third party funds to rebuild another stand and add new media facilities which meant the north stand wouldnt be done for a few years anyway. Then the issues with the some prior refurbishment of the southstand were discovered which meant that would need to be re-done sooner.
So this offseason the southstand will be rebuilt. Then in conjunction with the cricket the northstand will be rebuilt. Due to council constraints thats likely to be it for the time being as the homowners around the paddock complain about any planned rebuilding of that end, plus there is a public right of way behind it which restricts opportunities there.
The capacity when the southstand is rebuilt will be about 22k (similar to before the safety issues) and i would expect if there were to ever be any increase in ground size it would be at the northstand anyway. The Cricket club are looking to add another 3k on the north stand, which if that comes from building up means there is no reason the rugby stand cant do the same, which would give a new capacity of around 25k. If that is the case i would hope Caddick and hetherington are aiming for an average of AT LEAST 20k

Outstanding effort again from the marketing department at Wigan. Together with Hull FC, Wire and Wakey, it shows that if you make the effort you can make up the shortfall when quins are in town.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

Thinking more 17k myself with a decent walk-up.

| Just out of interest who does the stats pages on this site as some of them appear wrong? Looked at the table for our average and it's just below 7K not 7448 and whilst not wishing to pick on expansionist cousins I don't think Quins have an average of 7558!

The stats are for all games (home and away) that feature the team. If you are really interested, I can send you a nice colourful spreadsheet with every London home gate since 2000..... rl
3,176 is the average for SL this season (for some reason, the cup game v Wakey has popped up in there as well)
The attendances given on slstats.org are normally pretty correct, but I do check them against other reports.

| Have to say that Wigans marketing and promotionla team seem to have moved up a gear since IL took over at the club. A 13,700 average last year and a 4k increase this year on the quins game against 2008 is a sign that the commercial department understand the need to keep marketing the game rather than emplying the field of dreams tactics of some clubs.
That and the improvement on the pitch would seem to all bode well for the club and its fans.

The Marketing Director came from Bulls. Goes to show what he has been able to do with a big marketing budget.
Those who look to Wigan's big rise in crowds and Bulls' tail-off need look no further for a major explanation than the marketing budget made available to the marketing team. That is one of the massive advantages of having a wealthy owner.

| How does that relate to profit though.
Hypothetically if they're giving tickets away for next to nothing then they aren't making any money. I dont remember reading about their books recently.
We at Wire need an expansion, losing a quarter million a year we could definately add to our gate
