| Quote: Donnyman "The four clubs you name Kev have a very long history in a very long established sport Bath going back to something like 1865, there is no comparison.
Such clubs are in areas of high population where Rugby Union has been established well over a century and a half, with respect mate no comparison.
The direct comparison is Blackpool Borough, albeit the Borough were a lot closer to the RL heartlands
I love Cornwall I go to Padstow every year. I got married there and I have family that live in the area. In fact my brother in law’s grand dad built the social club in Padstow and fished for crab and lobster.
But, if you think after a day on the beach at Harlyn or somewhere I’m going to pack up early and drive to Penryn to watch Cornwall versus Doncaster. Rather than going back for a barbecue and few Proper jobs you’re being a bit optimistic.

That's a very interesting point, it would be just like the chancer to nip in and play his "Trump" card (pun intended) of the licence.....People are suggesting that the Rebels would automatically be a part of this forgetting the club has been building itself up since 2013 to make it's own application to join League one.
Had the chancer actually approached the real Cornwall club what could he offer them? Nothing but that licence, and in getting that the Rebels would have to bow to Perez.
So I'd sit tight if I was them and be ready to replace the Perez club when he leaves to re-invent himself, and search for some limelight elsewhere.......Maybe Aberdeen???

And if you had a missus and kids in tow you'd have no chance of going to the game even if you really wanted to go.
let's take this back to Hemel Hempstead where that Licence came from. Hemel were a successful southern amateur club that really built something including a really good junior game that delivered Dan Sarginson. They managed to get to league one and made fifth place in it one season, but the fans didn't turn up with attendances at 200 and the costs of the professional side of things destroying the club as a community club.
The only way this has legs is if a rich owner does turn up, and if it was me I'd back the Rebels, albeit just like Perez i don't have that sort of money to burn.....
Maybe David Argylle is in on this

Unlike you, who has never left the city of Bradford, I am well travelled. Ive probably been to Miami more times than youve been to a rugby game, but probably not as many times as saleslim has had taxi rides.

| The Championship and League One clubs are meeting with RFL at the Shay today and it’s not gone down well.
League one clubs have been advised their central funding is being cut from £62000 to £16000 next year with no travel allowances.
Added in to this none of the club chairmen were consulted on this before the RFL announcement.

| It's a shame for Cornwall that the 'Stadium for Cornwall' is struggling to get off the ground with funding. This was planned to be a 10k stadium in Truro which is the biggest town and be shared by Truro football and Cornish Pirates.
Traditionally Cornwall struggles with having decent stadiums and as others have already mentioned travel times can be long down winding roads.

| If you launched a competition to determine the least logistically feasible place to place a Rugby League team, then Cornwall would be top 10 if not first. Its so utterly absurd that even for our tin-pot sport I'm astonished.
I've often wondered why established RU clubs haven't considered launching their own sister side in League. For a modest investment they could sweat their primary stadium asset year round and potentially tap into new player markets.

Is the mindset really that if you stick a broader geographical area in your team name you magically widen the appeal? I'm sceptical but Bradford have proposed something fairly similar in a letter to season ticket holders. The rebrand will see us be named the "Bradford and most of western Europe apart from France Bulls".

I too am sceptical about wether these regional names work, but it depends on the region
Catalans have successfully tapped into the Catalan independence spirit. I can see Cornwall working as a brand as they too have strong independence feelings. But I'm not sure that applies to the Midlands, people generally tend to say they are from Birmingham, Coventry, West Brom etc not the region as a whole, and they don't demand independence as far as I know!
The Welsh club rebrands have been a mess, I've lost track who the Raiders or Ironmen are and where they play.

| To be fair, the Coventry rebrand is on the back of a decent amount of new investment

There can be buckets of cash, but unless they've a plan to do anything other than move a few games to different stadiums and hand out free tickets, it'll go th3 way of London.
Starting with schools visits and coaching sessions, along with inviting The Whole Family" to a game and then keeping in touch, asking for feedback, sending fan-packs with a hat/t-shirt.....look at the wedge wasps spent when they moved.....hundreds of thousands and they're still struggling with gates.
It's one thing having cash.....but knowing how and when to spend it is a totally different thing.

Possibly you know more on investment than a new Club in Cornwall? Care to share?
