In terms of who to replace them, i think we can all agree that SL would be a lot stronger if you had Newcastle, York and Bradford in place of Salford, Wakefield and Huddersfield. York and Bradford already outstripping said SL clubs in terms of attendances at a lower level, and Newcastle with much greater potential.'"

Really?
As the 2021 season attendances weren't properly recorded I have looked at the 2019 average attendances for said clubs

York 2,129
Bradford 4,339
Salford 3,677
Wakefield 5,346
Huddersfield 5,132

While I am not saying the SL clubs average attendances are anything to shout about only Bradford have a higher average
than 1 of the clubs you quote.

And still can't generate enough business activity to pay their rent, or get more than 3000 locals to follow them!

Salford has no future as a top division club.

There seems to be a fixation in RL with attendances. In reality personal attendances have been falling across the sport as a whole. For some clubs im sure they have found alternative ways to plug the financial gap in terms of sponsorship with the lure of sky exposure, lower running costs and corporate payments.

1,000 fans per home game @£25.00 a ticket and buying 2 beers and a pie for say another £8.00 is £360,000 a year.
Wigan lost 6,000 fans over th last few years....that's the same number as the SKY money.
Which sponsor has plugged that gap?

Warrington RLFC: The Wire, NOT Warrington Wolves FORZA WIRE:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_46584.jpg

It costs me less than £25 to get into Warrington, and I spend £0 once inside the ground. I hope that isn't the reason why we never win the Grand Final.

Quote: REVENUE "Salford negotiated a deal prior to heir tenancy and are blatantly unable to afford it based on current attendances. As in any rental in the real world if payment isn't received the tenant is removed. Smaller premises will cope with the attendances currently seen but if franchises are ever bought back then Salford, as a club, would not be offered a Super League spot.'"

In which case, would Wakey, Cas & Hudds be offered a spot ?

No idea what that's supposed to mean but must be an amazing comeback if your mate Chissitt has liked it. eusa_think.gif icon_lol.gif

Looking forward to seeing little old Salford annoy the RLFans trolls for many more years to come. icon_thumb.gif

in reality away fans dont number anything like that many and most home fans pay nothing like £25 a game, not to mention concessions. Many clubs ( eg wigan in your example) make zero from sales at the stadium. Your maths is flawed.

wakey and cas still havent fulfilled the franchise requirements from last time around. I'm not sure how Salfords rental works but Hudds and Wigan pay a rental based on the numbers attending. the smaller the attendance the smaller the rent. so if attendances drop so does the outlay.

I think that requirement died with licensing and is clearly no longer a pre-requisite of Superleague membership.

I've been in Belle Vue when it sold out for the Cas play off game, and it was a fantastic experience. Equally I've been at Huddersfield in their modern stadium before some very low SL crowds that wasn't that great.

Grounds need to be safe and that includes not over filling them, and that's about it for me unless I wan't to goad any Wakey or Cas fans on here which I don't. I'm not suggesting you do either BTW, but it happens all too often...... icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

my comment was in response to whether salford would fulfil franchise requirements now - in that some clubs still havent fulfilled requirements made on them a decade ago - so salford, who did what was asked of them likely wouldnt be bottom of the list!
