Think Inglis is comfortably the best centre in the modern era ie last 10/15 years. Even if he gets to 75/80% of what he was he’s still way above anything on show in super league in his position.

Warrington are entitled to do whatever they think best gives them the chance to win trophies. I’m not sure signing a player who has been out of the game for two years (and has two chronic injuries) is the way forward for them, but they can go down that route if they want to.
It raises a wider question of how we are going to compete with the Southern Hemisphere (both in terms of the national competition and internationally) when our so-called top clubs are signing this kind of player.
How many clubs have home nation players in key positions? Not too many. Until clubs are prepared to give home-grown players the opportunity to play in pivotal positions, we’ll never catch up. How many clubs have a spine of players eligible for England? Barely any.

As far as I can see clubs who run the player development systems certainly DO give their young pivotal players opportunities. The problem appears to be there aren't many of them about. Some say it's the emphasis on size and strength that has made it difficult for the smaller skillfull players. Lilley got a lot of time at Leeds IIRC. Richardson is getting a second chance at Cas? |

Yes, and Leeds gave Walker plenty of game-time too, to be fair.
Cas seem to be prioritising a young core of English players (a spine of Evalds, Richardson, Trueman and McShane in 2021) too.
Thinking about Warrington too, they did give Dec Patton a good opportunity. Maybe I was over-critical. |

although we could spin it another way, why aren't cas prepared to give a young fb or hooker the chance to make a name in their spine instead of going out and signing players from smaller clubs yada yada.
