| That Hull KR threat is a joke.
Sue for what exactly? Catalan have broken no rules.
Time to get off that high horse. He seemed to have no issue with drink driver, vandal and a guy who urinated on someone as well as setting them on fire in Todd Carney.
Must not forget about Joel Tomkins abusing a women bar worker with Hull KR quick to sign him up.
Stop throwing stones from Glass houses!!!
SL clubs are in no position to complain about the Falou signing when they are quite happy to sign players with criminal records, drug cheats etc etc.

As I said sponsors leaving wouldn't be because Catalan broke any rules.
Catalan had to get permission from the RFL. That permission was given.
Taking legal action against a club for signing a player which was signed off by the governing body is simply ridiculous.
If clubs are unhappy they should be directing that anger to the RFL. Catalan have operated within the framework set by the RFL.
The equlivant would be Liverpool signing Suarez again and premier league clubs threatening to sue if sponsors leave due to Suarez history.
Absurd.
The idea that SL clubs needed to be further consulted is madness. Since when do clubs need to get permission from other clubs on who they sign?

I agree with many posts on here and yours too. But given Lenegan considered signing him the outrage may not really be about Folau.
This looks far more like the English clubs resenting how the RFL still retain some decision making that affects Superleague. SL split from the RFL but are still tied in with them for the rest of the current SKY contract this season and next. Who knows - did the clubs agree not to sign Folau and Catalans went against them and the RFL backed Catalans?
Certainly Hudgell isn't the one with any major gripe, he knows he signs "bad lads", Hudgell is the English Superleagues Lawyer, that will be why he made the statement (and the rest agreed).
Looks far more like total resentment by the English clubs that Catalans went against them and the RFL backed this. I don't think it has anything much to do with morals, more like a power struggle and wether the SL clubs will be inviting "Guests" Toronto Wolfpack or "Guests" Catalans Dragons into the 2022 Superleague.....
Episodes like this are starting to indicate they won't.............

| When the ARU challenged Folau in court, every God botherer in australia donated money for his legal fees and he ended up asking them to stop donating because he had far too much and the ARU was forced to settle out of court before they went bankrupt.

And so Hudgell on behalf of Superleague isn't challenging Folau. They are collectively challenging their "guest" club Catalans Dragons.
I assume Dragons are contractually signed up like TWP to the current SKY deal in terms of their positions in Superleague for 2020 and 2021 that only relegation threatens. I also assume suing Catalans for causing a poor crowd fielding Folau ain't going to work, especially when without Folau Catalans don't draw good crowds here anyway.
The Folau move firmly put Dragons on the side of TWP against Superleague - so work it out. In two years English SL clubs will seek a new SKY deal when clubs like Widnes and especially Bradford under Nigel Wood will be wanting to take part. Clubs who have been asked by the English SL clubs to align with them in terms of academies and Reserves.
Neither of which Les Cats or TWP bother with. It ain't hard to wake up and smell this particular cup of coffee. In 2022 Superleague will go back to being an English League and "expansion" if you could ever call it that will be off the table. Meanwhile over on TotalRL war seems to have broken out between cappers and dreamers.

Are you saying that in 2022 Superleague will essentially be its own governing body? And that they will effectively return to franchising?
I haven't seen any indication of this anywhere. I thought they simply wanted to market their own league themselves and when the time comes, negotiate their own tv rights.

| Some of the posts on this subject you would think we were back in medieval times & the subject is now turning to religious hatred. Perhaps Folau should be burned at the stake when he turns up at Wigan.
We in the west are living in enlightened times & there are still countries in this world who persecute & even execute gay people. This faux outrage over a bloke's religious views is ridiculous.

| As a rovers fan I do wish our chairman had kept quiet, but I do think he has made the statement to position the club in the case of sponsoring company’s getting second thoughts due to pressure from lobbying groups. Whatever it has opened a complete can of worms that the game could do without!

| It’s a fuss about nothing, created by an ‘outraged’ minority supported by their media chums. As I understand it, the lad did nothing illegal and his most ‘heinous’ crime seems to have been quoting a passage from the Bible. If Catalans were forced to sack him due to ‘legal action’ there is every chance that a counter action would bankrupt the game as a whole - as the Australian RU learned the hard way. These clubs need to concentrate on getting their own houses in order rather than reverting to RL-type of bickering with others. That’s what has always held this game back - in-fighting by petty individuals.

There are probably just as many country’s today were Christians are being persecuted. Very often the same countries. It’s time people and sponsors stood up to these ‘outraged’ social media ‘lynch mobs.’ In fact, when companies bow to minority pressure it’s about time they were boycotted by other people to teach them to grow some balls and common sense.

The ARU did not challenge Folau. It was the other way round with Folau launching legal action with the Australian Fair Works Commission against the ARU, claiming that it was unlawful to terminate his employment on the basis of religious beliefs.
The settlement resulted in a multi million dollar payment to Folau and public apologies from both parties for any harm caused.
