Aye, maintaining all those different personas must be quite time consuming!!

Very much so but not sure how that can change. The audience demographic is affluent enough and the game needs a much larger reach to drive ad revenue for broadcasters.

Agreed, but let's not pretend that advertisers are falling over themselves to be seen around RL content - as the game's sponsorship portfolio shows. We offer Sky some of the cheapest demographics to advertise to. Sky is investing massive amounts in programmatic ad tech, and that isn't going to benefit RL.
Sky will pay big bucks for The Masters, Ryder Cup and F1 because the likes of Rolex and BMW want to be seen around that content and Sky can charge accordingly.

Not even those huge sporting events.
A standard Golf tournament which probably doesn't rate that highly will still see high end advertisers as that small audience still has money.

| Remember the deal that was voted through by the chairmen though. Any reduction in Sky monies hits the championship and lower leagues before any of the SL clubs are out of pocket

| It's not just Sky money. Presumably shirt sponsors will not pay as much if their name does not have a chance of being seen on telly.

Done.
The top (bottom) ten games shown on SKY sports in 2019 were games that featured either London or Catalan....in fact, you need to get to #24 game before neither of those teams feature. Neither of those teams are the draw......

This. Rightly or wrongly some lower league clubs rely on a bit of trickle down income from the TV deal. One or two will be in serious trouble over the next year or so if the new deal is below par

| I believe rugby union has not had its TV deal renewed in Australia, so it would seem that RL would lose it due to being a minority sport here with poor viewing figures. Without a decent TV deal there will be no full time professionals. Clubs with players on contract beyond the end of the current TV contract will risk going under.

unless individual clubs could possibly secure their own TV deals with a broadcaster - if Toronto are allowed to do this in north america, it would only seem fair to allow other progressive clubs the right to negotiate as individuals
what role if any could the bbc play in paying for a few live games
could the superleague start their own broadcast company with a subscription service
all possible discussion points and whilst not likely to bring in the amount that the Sky deal does, its better than nothing

| Is it possible sky are panicking at the thought of Amazon muscling in especially with football ? My mate was gutted on Wednesday because he pays loads-a-money for all the tv sports channels then found out Liverpool were being shown on Amazon.

The vote was split 7-6 with Catalans abstaining. The annual payment to SL clubs was £1,825,000 plus £327,000 for the SL "coaching and foundations".So if SKY want to maintain say a quality 10 club SL for another 5 years that deal would be, with some allowance for inflation £120M and yes there wouldn't be a penny for the Championship. I think the chairmen know exactly what they are going to get and that was probably the thinking behind that 2 x 10 set up they proposed for the game a year ago.
The clubs against the last deal at least in terms of how it was divvied up were Wigan, Wire, Huddersfield, Hull, HKR and Salford who despised the RFL and their negotiation of a game wide deal. The other SL clubs voted in line with the RFL. After that split vote Superleague split from the RFL. It is therefore likely an SL negotiated much lower deal that at least maintains SL clubs TV income could be down as far as to £120M. 10 SL clubs would then share something like that those clubs being Wigan, Wire, Hull, HKR. Castleford, Wakefield, Huddersfield, Saints and Leeds.......
And don't be surprised if that includes Bradford to make the 10. Don't tell me Nigel Wood does not know where the game is going here!! One place it clearly isn't going is anywhere away from the M62 and England unless as I am sure Spokesman Mr. Lenegan will eventually say "Not unless you can bring your own TV deal and your own players"

The last TV deal was £182m over five years. (
You would think sky would like to keep a variety of live sport- Thur and Fri evenings must add to the overall value of the sky sports product.

On Thursdays we are currently competing with (and losing to) Premier League darts.
The football Premier League has also made no secret that it wants to increase the number of TV slots, and Friday nights will invariably be one of their targets.

Na. Amazon are not trying to buy the full rights. For them a couple of weeks around holiday season does them fine. Amazon are using football to drive people to their site to buy things.
