Just watching the game tonight on Sky TV it seems the RFL heard about this sometime ago. Why didn't they address it earlier??

It's a comment on poor taste. That doesn't make him a racist. There are racist comments/actions and racist people.
Racist comments and actions can happen through ignorance (i.e. not realising it's offensive or offending anyone).
Racist people know it's offensive and still choose to do it.

I'm sure many of us have said or done something that has been considered offensive and haven't realised it (or realised how offensive). To do it in a professional capacity is pretty poor, and has been a major error in judgement from David Argyle.

The guy has owned up to it. He hasn't hidden from it. He hasn't pretended he didn't say it or deny it or try and cover it up. He has now followed through with more than an apology and effectively left the club. What more do people want?

The club could now be in peril, but I assume that is what many people wanted anyway.

It's sad, because the RFL could easily have sorted this out had they actually investigated the matter when it was brought up and it wouldn't have had to come to this. It's shocking they didn't and perhaps some other people should be leaving their posts voluntarily for doing nothing when they had the power and responsibility to do everything.

The RFL have serious questions to answer. Seems to me they was waiting for this to disappear quietly.

I think the player went too far by posting it on twitter, airing his dirty washing in public, enraging the social justice brigade and ruining a man's reputation. All over a relatively minor issue that was a bit naughty but could have been sorted behind closed doors. Absolutely no need for it.

the amount of delayed time has caused Kenga to speak out, going through the so called protocol hasn't fetched this to the public eye until now, another vote of no confidence for the RFL

I'll just get it out the way first and say that it was wrong to say what he did, no matter how tongue in cheek he thought it was.

But I can't help but feel the backlash from fans would have been so much less if it was the other round and the Swinton chairman had made the comment to a Toronto player. People had a chip on their shoulder over Toronto the moment the club was announced and a lot of people are just rubbing their hands together at the thought of them failing. To me, Argyle has issued an apology (and even tried calling the player to apologise) and a suitable fine should be given and then end of story. I can't see the people who are demanding action against the whole club (and I've seen mention on here and also facebook about giving them points deductions) doing the same if it was the Swinton chairman. I bet a lot of people couldn't wait to get on the internet when this news broke for another round of Toronto bashing.

This sadly is spot on. If it was the Swinton chairman saying it to a Toronto player it wouldn’t be getting the same level of interest from people wanting punishment especially a points deduction for Swinton.

He’s stated he’s not withdrawing his funding.

Based on the email I have received from David Argyle this morning the club is still going to move forward and remain committed to “growing this great game” (his words not mine).

So unlucky flat cappers. Toronto ain’t going anywhere
