Why? He's played in 3 International games, one of which Australia lost.
The fact he was a winner in the SOO & Championship is immaterial as those competitions weren't considered in this.
I quoteThe award is chosen by rugby league media in both the northern and southern hemispheres and covers all fully sanctioned international games from last December’s World Cup final to Sunday’s second Test between England and New Zealand.'"

No he doesn’t because NSW performances don’t matter because they aren’t internationals. If the Aussies want to see an Aussie win it then play more internationals. Same when Sinfield won 2012 I believe the Aussies didn’t bother playing anything at the end of the year.

I quote
Spot on!
He was alos very much outplayed by Watene-Zelezniak in the NZ v Australia game last month, who has been outshone by Tommy Makinson throughout 2018. Tommy has been great for England, and his performance last weekend (both defensively and in attack) is up there with the best individual performances I have seen from an England/GB player in a test game. Fully deserved imo

James Tedesco played in an Aus side that lost against New Zealand and nowt else.
zelezniak played for a New Zealand team that has lost the series to england (plus was at fault for every England try in first test)
Shaun johnson Played for a New Zealand team that has lost the series to England.
The best test side this year has been England after winning a one off test with NZ, warm up against the French and then a series against New Zealand.
It should be an English player that wins it under the rules.
Correct choice and we’ll deserved for me. Although I am biased against Wakefield so it should have Bernard Tom johnstone.

Because he disagrees with you?
Fittler is spot on, the Golden Boot Award has been devalued by the pointless rule change. It's ridiculous to award it based only on internationals as there are so few of them.
Makinson is a fine winger but to join a list of winners like Lewis, Kenny, Sterling, Hanley, Johns, Lockyer and Thurston is embarrassing and I would have said the same had Jake Connor had won it.

He isn’t spot on. That’s the issue. Just like the salty bitter Wakefield fan above, he has no clue about what the golden boot actually means this year! Fittler, like batsman still thinks it’s rugby league equivalent of the ballon d’or which it clearly isn’t.

| To only have international footy as a criteria is ridiculous. We are a sport that plays very little international games.

Yep. A player could have one good game and win the golden boot, how ridiculous does that seem?

Out of curiosity how on earth does this show me to be bitter? so I am guessing you put him on the same pedestal as the likes of Wally Lewis?
In all fairness I actually wasn't aware they now base the award solely on international performances... what's the logic in That? As my post states above a player could have 1 good game and win the golden boot, just doesn't make any sense.

| If the lack of internationals leads to an "embarrassing" choice, then have more internationals.
Makinson played well at the weekend, and was solid in the other game he played. Two games in a year is a pathetic amount, but there have only been four internationals for England in 2018, with one to go.

It’s not about who’s a better player, it’s about who has put in the most stand-out performances and Makinson has been outstanding in Sunmer and Autumn internationals against the Kiwis.
