Are you saying that your precious Leeds never do anything against the rules. You need to get over it, it happens at every club all the time.

| People need to understand what happened here - it wasn't shaking the posts (seriously, Wigan need to get over the way Leeds schooled Wigan back then). It was genuinely unwatchable - player is tackled. Stays down. Referee stops clock. Physio comes on. Player slowly gets up, clock is put back on, he plays ball and is instantly fine. That was every other Catalan tackle for 15 minutes plus some when they were the defending team.
Leeds were already down and out but this was one of the most astonishing periods of play I've ever seen on an RL field. It also probably cost Catalan the chance to win more convincingly.

| I was unimpressed with how the ref allowed 2nd efforts all night and allowed catalans to be offside all night. Shocking referee with no balls. Can't blame the players as they will do it if they get away with it.

No you can blame the players it was the players feigning injury and it needs stopping whichever side that does it

How does a referee judge if someone is injured or not, as said previously saw them do it against Leigh a couple of games last season, but I wouldn't want to be the ref who called their bluff and got it wrong

Yeah....so much so they came back to Headingley a fortnight later, 'schooled' Leeds 26-6 and then went on to win the Grand Final.

Not too much the ref can do during the game, but after games this should be reviewed using the video and action taken. It’s unsporting conduct and bringing the game into disrepute.

The disciplinary review all games, so it would be straight forward to look into "injured players", Greg Bird for instance gets injured every game and quite often makes a rapid recovery on the next play. Obviously you have to give benefit of the doubt to the player but some are very blatant and of regular occurrence, maybe the disciplinary could advise the particular club that the player should miss a few games for the "players welfare".

They used to move play 20 metres to the left/right and have another 'play the ball' even if the attacking player could not do so himself. Now PLAY IS STOPPED for about 2 or 3 minutes, and the defending teams know this.

| This. The only reason play should stop is if there is a clear risk of the injured player being involved in the next play. Thats the way it used to be. If its the side with the ball its not hard to avoid them, and an attacking team wouldn't want to have play stopped by going back to where they are either. Now we've got trainers stopping the game whilst treating players miles away from the play.
If feigning starts to be a problem then penalise them. There are already rules against time wasting. If a player seems hurt but then magically gets moving once the clock is restarted, why can't the ref give the captain a team warning for time wasting and tell them the next player that does it will be penalised? As for a genuinely injured player being pinged, that's the lesson from Peter and the Wolf isn't it? Don't pretend to be injured and it would never happen.

Indeed - and referees half-heartedly telling the trainer that the player will have to go off for treatment, and the trainer blatantly ignoring him and carrying on whatever he's doing; tell them to get off the field *once*, and if they don't, penalise the offending team - easy.

Completely disagree. Myself and most others would feign injury, if we get a penalty from it, get a breather or are able to time waste from it. It will not stop until referees stop it from happening. Why would one team stop it? They would be putting themselves at a disadvantage.

| People on this thread seem to have lost track of the basic news: Catalans Dragons beat Leeds Rhinos by six tries to four.
This means that Catalans will not be relegated and they are a candidate for the top 8 in 2018. What a turn around! What a great team!

| Quote: bren2k "All teams are doing it now - it's a cynical exploitation of the referee's approach to player welfare, and is often used to take the energy out of an attack, allow the defence to regroup, and wind down some time.
I had this discussion with the Huddersfield interim coach on Twitter recently; he vehemently denied that RL players feign injury to gain an advantage - I think he was being either dishonest, or totally naĂ¯ve.'"
Totally dishonest it is then seeing as Seb Ikahihifo did it against us the other week as we were about score following a breakaway with the game in the balance. He knew exactly what he was doing and he even smiled at fans as he walked off for his "concussion assessment". It's rife though and blatant cheating but like someone has already posted how do the officials deal with it. 99 times out of a hundred it's gamesmanship but it's a Peter & the Wolf situation in the one time a referee waves play on because he's sick of the cheating you can guarantee that player will be seriously injured.
