| Quote: Parkside Freddie "Predictable mean-spirited bilge from fans of so called bigger clubs who although claim to be pleased for Cas they're actually a little mad that the days of giving clubs like Wakey & Cas a patronising pat on the head appear to be over.'"
When is parkside freddy gonna take off his mask?
You obviosly still feel far too insecure to come out of your lengthy hibernation due to the ridicule that you will receive should one of the regulars win the GF yet again and especially during SL's worst ever season of "Whipping Boy Garbage" ever seen outside of the only side showing any credibility in the Tigers
We've swept these sea's with you before Parkside Freddy, but you're only too aware of that hence your continued absence from these forums

| Can we celebrate? Or do we need permission? We've been told all season that we ain't won anything yet - well we've one one of 'em and one left to go for. Job half done, bring on the semis.

| It's entirely possible for the team who come top of the league to have lost every game against the other 3 top 4 clubs as long as they won all of the other games - that doesn't make them the best, it just means they were fairly consistent against the lower teams
It's also possible for the team who wins the grand final to have won more league games than the team who finish the top of the league.
In 2016 Hull had won the most games after 23 rounds, Warrington had won the most after 30 rounds and won the LLS, but Wigan won the most over 32 rounds and were crowned champions

Of course you can, the best way I find to celebrate a trophy win, is to post on Rlfans
Well done on the trophy win, whatever people think of it, it shows progress for your club, even if you don't win the GF.
Hopefully see you in the semi final

| Quote: Judder Man "The bilge came from fans outside the "top 4" whose teams could not break the monopoly. My club won it 4 years on the trot and it was rammed down our throats that it was a Micky mouse trophy or the hub cap as it was later called.
Suddenly Warrington, Huddersfield and now Castleford have upgraded the value of this achievement, when in reality it has always been a measure of consistency, more so now because of its 30 game format.'"
Spot on. If we had Wigana and Saints neck and neck away at the top of the table with Cas holding on for 4th spot would we be hearing how much more importance should be given to the LLS?
People can go on about how it's a bigger thing because it's the 1st time in Cas history or because of their points margin or way they've played......but at the end of the day it is EXACTLY the same achievement as when Leeds, Wigan and Saints have won it.
Also as you point out the hypocrisy, Anybody would think the big clubs don't hear every year how they only win things because the RFL want them to win or refs give them all the big decisions or it's the Final Sky want. As a Leeds fan I've heard more than my fair share from the likes of Cas and Wakey having a pop at our successes and in 2015 it was "a fix" just to send Sinfield and Peacock off as winners.

| I think the point is that it is big for us (Cas) as a club as it represents the first time we have ever finished at the top of the league.
Would it mean as much to a club who has won it before? No.
Will it mean as much if Cas win it again in the future? No.
Similarly, the GF would be massive for us, more so that it would be for a team who has won it multiple times already.
It's not the trophy that's important, it's the signifance of it to the winning team.

| The grand final is a cup comp, sure you have to get yourself into a position to be in it but either side can be decimated by injuries or the ref has a mare and cocks it up for a team. One of game that can go either way for any number of reasons. Being champions of the league should represent who the best team was that season.

Powell is a fruit-loop to be talking like this and it undermines the mindset IMHO, it's a stupid mistake to come out and say it not least totally naive from his point of view.'"
It's a complete irrelevance as regards the rest of the season. Powell was simply taking up the game to generate interest. Powell & all the players were stressing straight after the game that the job is only partly done. It also generated more faux drama from the easily offended. If I was you I would worry about your own mental state than Powell's.

A different team has finished top for the last 6 seasons. Had Hull not ran out of gas after Wembley last year, it would have been 7.
2011: Warrington
2012: Wigan
2013: Huddersfield
2014: Saints
2015: Leeds
2016: Warrington (nearly Hull )
2017: Castleford
Hull, Catalans, Wakey or Salford's turn next year...

If ANYONE can win a one off GF then why do the same few teams keep winning it or even reaching it.

That's one of the points though, if Cas win it again or a few times in next few years it won't mean as much so this talk of first past the post etc. should take into account that you shouldn't look to change things just because of this one seasons end result.
If Cas win a few more LLS the next 5 years and are 10 points clear with several games to go will people still stay we should prioritise the league over the GF....which is one of the few good things the sport has going for it over here.

| Well done to Cas, and i hope their supporters enjoy it !!
When we won it in 2013 we were told the same that it didn't matter and we only won it cos Wigan, Leeds, Saints etc didn't want to win it !!
I guess if your a fan of clubs who taste regular success then this is 'just another trophy' but to fans like Huddersfield and Castleford who are not expected to win things and have both seen their team playing in the 2nd tier recently it's a massive achievement to finish top of the league.
There is no set importance to the LLS, it's as important as every club or supporter sees it, i know i was over the moon when i saw us lift it as were many other Fartowners that night.
Winning trophies is what it's all about and seeing your team lift any is a great feeling.
