| They started doing it in the NRL reserve grade comp here in NSW.
The teams line up together, walk out and then shake hands. Utter nonsense. They even have the captain wearing an armband with a C on it.

That's what the football teams do over here. Though in John Terry's case the C on the armband didn't stand for "Captain".

| Isn't it because all players walk out now with a kid. That wouldn't really work if you did one team at a time and them running straight onto the pitch. So I imagine it's to accommodate that and let the kids have their picture taken in the lineup.

| Why not have the teams run out like the good old days then line up with the kids if we really have to go down that route?

As soon as the music stops it's deadly silent in the crowd in a lot of grounds because the music's been so loud you can't get anything going in the stands. Fans build an atmosphere. Fans who've been given the chance to, that is.

Does anyone know ? is there something happening that we can't see or don't know about ?
Even the players look very awkward stood there for what looks like an eternity with their hands on a child's shoulder....maybe it's for the parents of the kids or the sponsors to take photo's ??

| And there was an example of it at Wigan; Barrie and Brian were at the screen and some terrible singer was belting out some garbage singing with some karaoke music blaring out of the PA and you could barely hear a single word of what Barrie and Brian were saying.
I'm in Manchester and I reckon if I'd just opened my window a bit I'd be able to hear that music coming from the DW from 27 miles away!

I really couldn't tell you. I'm half expecting Richard Osman and Alexander Armstrong to pop up and say "welcome to POINTLESS!" and point at the two teams lining up!

spot on, same at football, i know atmosphere's at most sports grounds has changed somewhat, but why clubs feel the need to to blast music out is beyond me, like you say, let the fans create the atmosphere not some shouty numpty with a microphone and loud rave music!

Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10174.png |

| A few years ago Wigan nailed it with creating a build up to a game but now it is embarrassingly bad. I and many others hate it, but the club don't listen to the fans. And the RFL certainly don't listen to the fans!
