| Quote: Mild Rover "Hudgell has made specific claims that the panel pre-judged the appeal before submissions were received and that inadmissible evidence was used against JB.
Now there's an argument about the relative importance of process and outcome, and I know you are satisfied with the panel's decision. Given what Hudgell has charged, and bearing in mind that it is a decision that has sparked controversy, do you think there's a case for reviewing the conduct of this panel? I'm not making any suggestion that they're corrupt or malicious, but if what NH says is true, then I think it is fair to say they've been 'reckless' - they do after all have a duty of care to the game.'"
It should he independently looked at, if it's true those involved should be banned. Just as all claims of this nature should be.
If it's just made up by Hudgell then he should receive a record fine for accusing the RFL of essentially fixing an outcome. Remember this isn't the first time he's accused an RFL employee of being "anti KR"(complaint against Thaler a few years ago based on what someone in the refs dressing room told him).

Agreed - it is a serious accusation and if untrue I'd expect the RFL to come out and defend their team, and give NH a big fine (and deservedly so).

| Shocking, farcical decision and Daryl Powell should be fined. Does he ever shut up moaning? Can't stand the guy.
How many games did Marc Snide get last season for DELIBERATELY trying to end Danny McGuire's season/career?

Here's what Powell said“That was a bad tackle – that’s got to be out of the game,” Powell told media after the game."
'"
Let's see what McDermott has said about tackles in the past....
On Sneyd's tackle"My understanding of the sin bin is that it is there for some bloke who pushes after the ball has been passed, shoulder barging, for fighting or some little indiscretion that is more than penalty," raged McDermott.
"The kid [McGuire] makes a break and has his ankle twisted. The referee signals that. In desperation not to have his ankle broken he kicks out, trying to get the bloke off who is trying to break his ankle, and gets sin-binned.
"It worries me the game has got that wrong. I am very angry."
"Danny is not walking, he can't even put his foot down on the ground," added McDermott. "It is a bad one."'"
How about shoulder charges? Which his whinge resulted in them getting banned?
Quote: loiner81 ""At the time, I agreed with keeping shoulder charges in because I didn't see the problem," said McDermott. "But if this is becoming acceptable to a degree that you get it wrong and only get a two-game ban, I'd like to change my judgement and ban it. It could result in some serious injuries to players."'"
Quote: loiner81 "“But, when it does, you are nearly going to kill some bloke so if you can’t manage it properly just get rid of it."'"
So can you not stand McDermott too or id it fine because he coaches Leeds?

McGuire had greater healing powers than Jesus that week.

| Cas lose their captain and arguably their best player for the whole season.
Hull KR lose a pretty average hooker for four games.
Probably best for Hudgell to stand down from his barstool and shut up.

| Powell wouldn't have blinked twice at that tackle if Shenton wasn't injured. The reaction from the Cas players is also quite telling. Fact of the matter of is that tackle was legitimate (it was unfortunate - no malice whatsoever - that Shenton got injured). Every team does it (yes Mr Powell, even yours).

Oh yes of course, I forgot. He faked being injured.

How very irrelevant but since you asked, yes I admire McDermott. Hope that's OK with you.

Well it wasn't a legitimate tackle because applying pressure to joints is not legal. Cas players don't react because if you actually bothered to pay attention Boudebza is facing the Hull KR line, not the Cas one so the challenge is shielded by multiple bodies. Just because it wasn't massively obvious straight away to people only looking for something else, doesn't make it a legal technique.
If he doesn't do the leg whip (which he didn't even need to do!), Shenton doesn't miss an entire season and Boudebza doesn't get banned...it's really that simple.

So you're a hypocrite, got it. Good of you to admit it.

| Well actually if you bothered to looked at the video you would see that he doesn't apply pressure to any joint (not directly anyway). In fact you can quite see clearly see that he attempts to tackle him around the waist first, it's just unfortunate that the pair of them lost their footing. If you think that tackle should be banned, go watch football.

| I am astonished that Boudebza has been suspended, at all, never mind for four games. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the tackle at all. It started at the hip, he didn't target the knee joint, it was just unfortunate for Shenton.
Very poor from the RFL and very unfortunate for both players.

| I've now finally seen this tackle.
The suspension is a terrible decision. It was a tackle. A tackle which began round the waist and was actually quite a low impact. It's the sort of tackle which might happen a dozen times in every match. Calling it a name like "leg whip" tackle doesn't make it any kind of tackle with an intention to injure.
We play a collision sport. Injuries happen. They're perhaps more likely to happen when more tacklers are involved because it becomes impossible to fully control where pressure occurs on limbs as the tackle goes to ground.
Boudebza has been very badly done to here. I hate to say it, but given the way so much of RL works, it would surprise me not at all if Boudebza's nationality had more to do with this decision than the actual tackle.
Dreadful decision. Dreadful.

Interesting point. If it had been Roby I wonder if anything more would've happened at all?
