"The Golden Generation finally has its Golden Fleece! They have Wembley Cup Final winners medals to add to their collection." 23/08/2014:

I'd say bad scheduling didn't help in most of those losses.

Obviously the Saints one is the week after Wembley. When we played Cas earlier in the season on Thursday night after we'd just played on Sunday. And just now we played in France on Saturday and then had to play Thursday.....that's the only time a team has been asked to do that turnaround this season (apart from Widnes at the always congested Easter weekend)

the only reason i can see for Leeds losing their last 3 games is simply because the opposition have been better than them, sometimes it happens in sport that teams can beat others because they were better than them.

So you wouldn't say that disallowing a Leeds try for obstruction and then allowing an almost identical Cas try had anything to do with it? Here's a newsflash, there are plenty of occasions where the better team on the night loses.I'm not saying Leeds were better than Cas, but to suggest that no other factors can possibly have been involved makes you look a hell of a lot more biased than me.

the officials weren't to blame for Leeds losing to cas, i'm not saying the better team always wis but in Leeds' case, the better teams won every time

fwiw, i thought the cas try was fine i didn't think it was obstruction.

I missed the bit where Childs nipped into the VR booth and made the decisions on the obstructions.

I'm talking about two different things here, sorry if that's confusing for you. Child's has a tendency to ref somewhat unevenly at Headingley - see giving you a penalty when your player randomly drops the ball vs giving you head and feed when one of your players rips the ball - I really don't care if that sounds like sour grapes, I know what I've seen with my own eyes and it has been a contributing factor in all of our defeats under his officiating.

As for the obstruction calls, to my mind they are as close to identical incidents as you're likely to get in one match and the VR's got one of them wrong. You give one you give both. I was using this as an illustration to Meast that maybe it's not as clear cut as 'Cas were better' and that maybe other factors were also involved.

I'm not saying 'Leeds was robbed' because i don't think we were. I do, however think Cas gained advantages thanks to uneven and at times inept refereeing.

and it's CHILD,ffs people he's been around long enough for people to know his correct surname!
icon_frustrated.gif

thanks

back onto topic, every team gets bad decisions going for and against them, every team suffers at the hands of CHILD, so it's pointless even trying to pinpoint exact decisions that you feel goes against your team, just accept that it's sport and it happens

Then I apologise.

Quote: Big Jim Slade "I really don't care if that sounds like sour grapes, '"

No it doesn't, it sounds like paranoia.

Quote: Big Jim Slade "As for the obstruction calls, to my mind they are as close to identical incidents as you're likely to get in one match and the VR's got one of them wrong.'"

I think the difference was that in the Leeds no-try Shenton was moving to tackle the Leeds player with the ball but was prevented from doing so by the dummy runner. Whereas in the Cas try the Leeds player went to tackle the Cas dummy runner. I might be wrong, I don't know what the current interpretation of the rule is, though the studio seemed to think the VR got each correct.

Quote: Big Jim Slade "I do, however think Cas gained advantages thanks to uneven....refereeing.'"

Are you sure you are talking about 2 different things? In that case I don't apologise.

Child is just awful. How he gives some of the decisions I will never know. Even as a Cas supporter, I am at a loss how he didn't see some blatant ball stealing on our part but seemed to see a steal when Milner (I think) just dropped the ball.
No bias, just incompetence.

Honest opinion from a Rhino:

The band is annoying these days. I used to like, but its had its time, I hope instruments are banned at Headingley next season but I doubt it. On the other hand at least Headingley doesn't sound like a library on a match day...

Regarding James Child, lets all face it, he is a very poor referee and he doesn't control games. I was very impressed with Robert Hicks during Saints vs Wigan on Thursday, a proper referee. You control your own destiny during games but poor referring will get the back up of ANY fans in SL. We are a sport where the referees are in the spot light when they shouldn't be. This is a culture brought to us By Eddie and Stevo. Sky are obsessed with the officiating to the point where they now even have one as part of their commentary 'team'. Its a joke.
