You're never going to get, literally, "every game matters". But the new set-up has certainly reduced the number of dead-rubber matches, and that's a big step in the right direction. It gets a qualified thumbs-up from me. A RU fan in my local has commented plenty off times about the fact that their promotion/relegation set-up leaves the promoted team with much less money to spend (half as much, I believe, as the other Premiership clubs). The result of this is that you get a team promoted who look enviously at Wakey's record: London Welsh didn't win a game all season! That is a mistake we don't want to repeat.

And, like plenty it seems, I'm finding the glass-half-empty negativity of some around here hard to take. I've never used an "ignore" function on any talkboard I've posted on, but I'm getting tempted here.

I'm no mathematician but I think that a team with five wins can't possibly finish as low as 4th. I may be wrong but, if I am it would be a very unlikely outcome so hardly evidence of the stupidity of the system. Let's see how it pans out before slamming it.

We'll, as I said, I'm no mathematician. Perhaps you could provide me with the scenario where a team wins five games and finishes 4th. And perhaps you could show me how you worked out the probability of it happening as well. Just out of interest.
