I appreciate a certain level of tact is necessary, but that should be up to the individual, not the authorities.'"
So if I were to find out all of your personal details, because you think I should have the right to a complete freedom of speech, I can just post it all online? Bank details, pin number, the lot?
The data protection act stops that freedom of speech. And a bloody good job.
There are lots of laws that prevent people from being allowed to just day what they like. And to be honest it's a bloody good job. You're not allowed to go around calling people what you like or share information. It can be bloody dangerous!

| I prefer the American system. Over here it's too easy for the powerful to use freedom of speech legislation to bludgeon the powerless.

| To be fair to Wane, all coaches probley shout abuse about refs whilst sat in the stands. He just had to be more careful as he was on Sky Sports. Bit unfair if he got into trouble or even fined. He should just be reminded to be more careful on the televised games as viewers and people could be offended.

| I love how this thread is about the name calling that Wane made during the game, either commenting on the indication of no try which was unanimously overturned by the video refs (you could argue that it would be an indication of bias) or sexuality (which would be somewhat out of context, but don't let that get in the way of Wigan bashing). And yet, it's perfectly find to make a personal insult of "ape" when referring to Wane, shame that it's a factual point you bunch of monkeys.
Oh noes, I used the word monkey which could be taken in a racist manner. I guess that's a reflection on your prejudice and use of words rather than mine, I was thinking of phylogenetic distances.

Doesn't really work like that, does it? Just because some people don't get caught doing things they shouldn't be doing doesn't make it ok. Speed cameras would be pointless then.

| I'm not saying Wane was right to say what he did I think it's totally wrong but it wasn't said directly at him, and not in an offical press conference so he shouldn't be punished and we probley won't hear nothing about it. We hear players swearing all the time.

So as long as he doesn't say anything directly at the referee, it's ok?
Let's see what happens when we get a black referee and how many people would find it ok to shout racial abuse at home from the stands "as long as it's not directly at him."

Wane's comments were a direct suggestion that the ref was bent (corrupt) for having the temerity to refer the try to the VR. Initial comments from the studio were that it was a no try; repeated showings suggested it was a try. It was a good & fair decision to refer it. It will help reinforce Wane's victim mentality.

Have you ever slagged off your employer in conversation? Made comments that might get you in trouble if they heard? Ever? If so you're a hypocrite.
Wane made a comment in the heat of the moment. I'm sure we've all shouted "oh just bloody give it ref!" when tries have been referred to the VR. That's all Wane was doing, expressing frustration that the ref appeared to doubt what was - to me at least, and probably most people - clearly a good try.
Whether you find the wording particularly offensive depends on just how much offence you choose to take, as is the norm these days. If you're shouting 'homophobia' give your head a wobble and then bang it against the nearest wall. Then do us all a favour and go play with the toaster in the bath, please.
Trial by the Sky Producer's finger when sat in the stands is a bit much.

I understand that, everyone does. But you've got to realise that common sense isn't really part of the world anymore, certainly not in professional sport. I don't honestly think Zac Hardaker is actually homophobic either, it was just the derogatory word of choice that came out. Wane has to realise that whilst representing Wigan RL he has to keep up with modern behavioural protocols. No use of words that can in any way be linked to race or sexuality. If he replaced 'bent' with 'daft' there would be no call for anyone to debate these things.

Absolute rubbish, for more than one reason. Firstly, there's a difference between slagging someone off and calling them "corrupt". The latter is slander.
Secondly, there's a difference between what you say in private and what you say in public. Private comments don't harm the image of the person/group you're making them against (and can be refuted).
Finally, if I have made comments like Wane in the past about my employers, it doesn't make me a hypocrit to say he shouldn't. Maybe I would have learnt from the experience after suffering the consequences. So really, just a poor poor argument.

But you or I dint represent the club in a professional capacity. Kids on the playground swear in the heat of the moment, it doesn't mean I can when I'm teaching them.

If you actually read what I put earlier in the thread, you'd see I used almost the exact same phrase! I don't think for one second he's suggesting he's homophobic. I'm suggesting he thinks he's corrupt. That's not exactly better! For a game that wants a good image and attract sponsors, you can't have coaches shouting slanderous remarks in public, even "in the heat of the moment".
If you're going to aggressively join an argument, at least make sure you know what the argument is.

It's not an RLFans thing, check social media, forums and newspaper comments the world over.
The world's gone stark raving mad.
