| Quote: Barbed Wire "Moon is one of the best centres in the league at the minute, which shows the regression in quality in that position.
Lyon was the best of a group including Gleeson, Senior, Ha'pe etc.
Sadly, Moon is up against Gelling, Turner and Shenton. Not the same kind of test'"
You missed off Sarginson the current England centre.
Could you also expand on the etc... cos i can't think of all that many great centres in SL throughout years TBH.

Indeed, you could say the very same about Lyon.
Paul Sykes, David Vaealiki and Gray Viane?

| Moon and Hall are more like Hape and Vainikolo but a decade on... and not quite as good.

Renouf was regarded as a better player than Lyon by many, especially in Australia.
He was widely considered the classic Centre.
Tries
Brisbane
142/183
Wigan
43/59
---------
185/242
Tests tries
11/10
Jamie Lyon
NRL
114/264
Saints
44/60
-------
158/324
Test tries
4/8
There is more to the game than scoring tries but it is a good indicator of a players ability.

He was certainly in the same class as Lyon IMO. Perhaps didn't have as much an impact on SL that Lyon did but he's still one of the best centres that has ever played RL and came here around the peak of his career. If it wasn't for Wide to West, he probably would've won a GF also. And it's crazy to think we got rid of him for Jamie Ainscough.
Named in a list of Brisbane's 20 best ever players.
In the Indigenous team of the century at centre alongside Inglis.
He is still Brisbane's top try scorer, even having played 6 seasons less than Lockyer.

Didn't realise how incredible his try scoring ratio was.

| Good as Lyon was, I think saints fans treat him like a God or rose tinted glasses at least. I think Aussie centres since 1990 Renouf, Gasnier, ET ( who was best at fullback) Inglis. And not forgetting big mal in his twilight years all better than Lyon.
In super league he's in the top 3-4 but senior for me is the best, he may not have had guille and subtlety to his game and was all power and pace, but so what Neil Fox, Billy Boston were the same.
