| Quote: Sal Paradise "No way Gary Hetherington is going to vote for an increase in spend on players wages - if he had his way the salary cap would be reduced.
Pity we don't have a salary cap on CEO's perhaps then they may take a more benevolent view about players earnings and the need to increase revenues to support them'" Cubs that currently have a successful squad are likely to vote against an increase, it would just make it easier for less successful clubs catch them up.

He voted for the marquee player exemption last time.

He also voted against increasing the salary cap the last time it was increased - Idon't hear anything from GH about increasing the cap?
GH is a clever operator - no way he would have voted for a marquee exemption if he thought it had any chance of getting adopted. He knew it wouldn't get enough votes to go through so a win win for GH.

| Quote: JB Down Under "For a week. Tell me how sustained was warringtons crowds and media presence after John's left?'" You are right, there wasn't much media presence or increase in crowds for Johns time in Warrington after Johns had left. The increases happened when he was there. He paid for himself in terms of ticket sales and merchandise sales.
GI would get us more media presence than we could ever afford to buy.

GH not only voted for the Marquee exemption, he has proposed it.
the last proposal was very close to going through. Lenegan, Koukash, Davy, and Moran voted for it last time, along with Hetherington. He was playing a pretty dangerous game if he didn't actually want it.

| Lot of talk about Inglis getting "media presence and attention" for the sport.
This might come as a surprise, but I very much doubt the majority of UK sport editors - either in the print or digital media - have the first flying clue who Greg Inglis is.
Or for that matter, remotely care.
It's not like Sam Burgess was in the papers and on Question of Sport every other week, until his move to Bath hit the headlines.

I have no doubt that the UK sport editors in print and digital media didn't really have a clue who Sam Burgess was. But big moves get big headlines.

| Quote: Errlee Berd "He didn't say it was sustained, just that while those marquee players were here, there was a noticeable increase in crowds and coverage. Which is the point of this allowance, to attract that calibre of player again.'"
Comparing Johns move to England and Inglis is Apples and Oranges.
Johns played a handful of cameo games after his team was finished for the season in the NRL.
No matter how talented a player is he can not turn a team around on his own and if he is surrounded by mediocre players he will most likely look similar.
The chance of signing a player like Inglis is virtually zero.
