Not all NRL contracts are worth that much.
If you do not play a certain amount of games you just go down to a feeder club and get match payments.'"
So why say.
Quote: Buggo "Some of those players would struggle to get an NRL contract never mind with the Premiers.'"
All the players I mentioned will start the season in the first team.

they have all just signed first team contracts and if you think any of those players are going to play for match payments your a bit silly.
Seriously the NRL has a lot more depth but their not immortal gods that they don't have average players playing because they have their fair share.

Tame Tupou was a first grader and top try scorer for the Broncos when he came over and stunk up the place. Ben Cross played SoO and Leeds decided to go with nothing rather than finish the season with him.
There are some outstanding players in the NRL, some wonderful world class footballers. There is also some dross. Most of the big sides squads would get a gig in the NRL.'"
Hang on Smokey...
Name names..... how many first grade games did Tansey and Mathers play before one was found out as a dud and the other finally made the grade did his knee, had is team mates support him and they take off back to the UK.
Ill answer it for you.
Tansey 7 games 3 off the bench, left while still under contract.
Mathers 6 games filling in for the regular fullback that was crocked. left while still under contract

YOU do not know what you are talking about.
No unkown signed on potential signs a "first team contract" you are making that up.
NRL Clubs have 25 contracted players that make up the team that has to fit into the Clubs salary cap, their contracts are registered with the NRL.
Are you telling me Worrincy and Luke Burgess are in the clubs 25?

| Two referee's for the game, and Luke Patten as video referee. So assume it's being played with the new NRL rules that were brought in.

| And yet neither could get a game with a top SL club either because they had better players. Tansey was already on his way out at Leeds, most people over here were shocked he got close to the Roosters never mind actually made first grade. Mathers was a good young player where injuries went wrong, but he still didnt leave as the best FB in SL when he was playing first grade for Gold Coast.
How many more names do you want? Luke Burgess was a back up/reserve Prop for Leeds and does exactly the same job for the Rabbitohs.
Lee Mossop and Remi Casty werent even the best players on their team, never mind being the best in SL and they still got contracts in the NRL,
For every Mick Dobson and Pat Richards, there is Daniel Holdsworth or Nathan Blacklock, for every Kylie Lueluai there is a Ben Cross or a Willie Mason.

Is that what you asked?
I'd presume he was in all honesty unless his contract was loaded as he arrived mid season.

The part you are leaving out is the players that you have named that are playing part time in Oz are in the main fringe players.
Many of the Australians that were reserve players in Oz like Dobson or average Club players like Richards that were name players in Super League.
Australian Clubs have brought over players like Mathers and Tansey for next to nothing to see if they can be the next George Burgess, when its obvious they are not going to make it they are released or tapped on the shoulder.
Its not as if they were expensive experiments.
The only English players that have been developed in England and done well in the NRL in recent times is Sam Burgess and Graham.
Watch the rest of the Burgess boys get spun away from Souths in the next year or so.

No, I did not ask that but you do not think a player that may be brought over on incentives may become a contracted player eventually?
I bet he is not in the top 25 next year now his drawcard Brother is leaving.
Its your Club and it appears your Forum Sheldon, its like barking in the wind at times here.
I will take a short siesta from this lovely place.
If I could give you some advice.. you have one member here that is killing this place and turning people away from joining or posting.
You do not need me to tell you who it is.

| Cronulla thought they had Tom Briscoe signed, when he went to Leeds they signed Eric Grothe jnr.
I don't know why it's so hard to admit there's some decent players in SL.

George is hit and miss.
Once his big brother goes he could be more miss than hit.
Do you think his Coach likes him smashing cars and sexting? sometimes you are not worth the grief.

Maybe as an avid fan you should go back Home to watch them live.
How much do you think Eric cost seriously.
$500 a game
