I'm just using figures tweeted by loverugbyleague.com , they could be wrong but was a few empty seats.

No, you are right. It was just 35 shy of 15,000.

Great attendance.

Quote: MjM "I suspect it comes back to the basic understanding - some club owners don't give a poop about the game beyond their own clubs.'"

This complete tosh gets repeated over and again and never sounds any more sensible. Club owners aren't complete morons (usually, you need to have something about you to get enough money to own a club) and they understand that the sport as a whole needs to succeed for their club to ultimately do so. There's just a broad spectrum of ideas about how that's best achieved. It's a perfectly acceptable (i.e. it might be wrong, but it's not insane) idea to suggest that making SL very successful creates a bigger pot from which to ultimately distribute the cash. Spread it too thinly and you weaken SL to a degree that the sport as whole attracts less cash. Suggesting that SL receive a bigger share of a particular distribution doesn't necessarily mean you couldn't care less about other clubs.

the empty seats appeared to be in 2 big chunks, which makes me think they were either not sold due to an error, or bought by a re-seller/ticket tout and not sold on, or a coach trip that didn't make it to the ground etc prime seats near the half-way line don't just lie empty for a game in demand like that.

all decent attendances. i went to the png v france game and was impressed with the turnout which featured enthusiastic supporters of both sides as well as all the neutrals, should be an even better crowd for the png v samoa game

We watched the PNG-France game in a pub in Warrington and had 4 French blokes sat behind us who left at half time to walk to the HJ!

13,965 quoted on the official site and Sporinglife.com....although SKY NZ commentary team mentioned the 14k figure too.

rlhttps://www.sportinglife.com/rugby-league/live/match-report/36385/new-zealand-v-samoarl
Average attendance so far 16,625,ahead of 2008's first 4 games average by about 10%.

I said 360k would be the total attendance and I stand by that, given attendance/availability is tracking at about 66%. The remaining England games through to and including Wembley could well all sell out in the next few days....monthly pay-day is coming for some and the standard of games so far has been brilliant.

I've watched the Kiwi v Samoa game 3 times already.......I'd be surprised if Samoa aren't playing Fiji at the HJ in the 4th Quarter Final in a few weeks time.....they should murder France and PNG based on that performance and the earlier game.

8,872 announced for tonight's game bringing the total number of fans who have attended games at this RLWC to 75,370.

There still seems some confusion as to the gate at Warrington, but the RLWC official site has that at 13,965, so that's the figure I have used.

2008 first 5 games delivered 72,176, a tad over 4% ahead of that.

Right try and keep averages out of this one too. This is more about total figures for games.

If people want to talk averages you have your very own thread to get all semantic in.

7,630 announced for tonight's game bringing the total number of fans who have attended games at this RLWC to 83,000.
2008 first 6 games delivered 83,545, so tracking pretty much the same as last time.

even so far, but we'll get more in the final and the semi this time, i'm pretty confident we'll smash 2008's total!

although i'm sure many on here will produce a dossier of stats and mitigating factors which show it has done far worse icon_rolleyes.gif

Workington said they'd deliver, and they have done. That figure should be smashed on Sunday I reckon.
