| If you do a search on jobs you will see this London weighting is harder to pick out than people say. The difficultly is that not all jobs are the same, however a quick search.

Like I say it's only a snap shot but as far as I can see it's only the public sector that has this London weighting in any fixed fashion. In the Private sector it's not as clear cut, so maybe it's those who have a London weighting who are out of touch and don't realize not everyone gets this privilege.
Or maybe not every Northern town is the same, we do have the internet and electricity nowa days you know sirs!!!

| There is no doubt London is more expensive than the North. However as we are playing these games if you search for a 3 bed house to rent within 10 miles of LB training base in Roehampton they start at 450pcm.

| Like I said it's a snap shot, there will be businesses with a London weighting, but not everyone gets it.
So those arguing a 10% cap increase is not enough, I'd like to know what they are using as their guide for London weighting.
Also with London losing so much money already it's not even certain they could afford a higher cap level and whether that would bring the punters in.
There is no denying that London is more expensive, but what arbitary amount you allow more than the rest of the clubs is not straight forward.
Hemel hemptead may not be in central London but then neither was twickenham. It was a 5 minute search on Monster to see what the increase in wages would be for similar jobs. You have to be specific though as not all accountants are the same etc, so that's why I went for 2 jobs but ones that are homogenous in terms of work.
If you look at house prices then you could say double the salary cap easily. But house prices are not the only thing in a basket of goods when you look at price differences between north and south.

NRL expansion? Sometime soon, maybe......:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_9857.jpg |

| Well it started off with someone calling for them to have an allowance, then when pointed out that they get preferential treatment from the rfl it was suggested a 10% salary cap advantage wasn't enough. Given the club is broke, have disastrous owners and No fans they could be given double the salary cap and it wouldn't help them.

| I think if the allowance was too large the cap would end up being removed and we would be back to a free for all.

| Just give LB a 15% cap allowance and see if they can still make a pig's ear of it.

correct...Twickenham is in Greater London, whilst Hemel is 27 miles away....it would be like me saying that Bradford and Huddersfield are suburbs of Leeds

Er, well maybe for your average commuter, HH isn't particularly nice to live in though the villages around it are nice, however you're effectively saying ALL the players have to live miles away from the club and ask every single one of them to travel at least an hour each way to work (training days as well as match)
That is unreasonable by any way of thinking & unrealistic to ask all your players to commute in from 35 miles away in some low rent apt/house just so that a club has level pegging on the salary cap.
What about the players that already live there(In that there London), you going to ask them to move away so that the Northern clubs don't have a massive financial advantage?

Are you suggesting that the best way for London to attract talent to the capital is by showcasing the number of leafy towns that are actually a 45 minute drive from London

| Well it's quite often stated that the northern clubs benefit from players being able to interchange between any numbers of sides. I'm sure every Yorkshire club, even those in Hull, not to mention the Cumbrians, still have carloads of players travelling up from Lancashire and vice versa. What's the difference?

| Firstly I did not chose HH as a prime London site. It was just the first London area that came up on the Monster website with a job equal to that in Leeds.
2ndly well done for taking a minor point and making it the whole arguement.
Either there is a London weighting or there is not. My point was that not all jobs carry a London weighting and put in about 60 seconds of effort, to do it. I'm not going to spend 30 minutes searching the net just to make a quick point. If it had come up with HH paying more than Leeds I would still have put it up if it came up first. I was expecting pay to be 10-20% better, as it was the first 2 jobs showed no difference.
So if you want to laugh at the ineptness of HH being in greater London, then laugh at the website that includes it. It could have been barnet, wembley or dover for all I care. If the website search picks it out as greater London then that's it's problem

| Watford and St, Albans are also counted as greater London
