| Quote: PONNER "Nobody was saying Brough was 'good', he was 'GREAT' with his pin point kicking and awesome defence. TBH I didn't notice his defence as much being at the game but i've watched it twice on TV now and seen the amount of work he put in. You aren't McNamara by any chance are you cos he can't spot talent either.'"
So he meant to kick directly to the hands of Hall, Hardaker or Watkins repeatedly? Odd choice for a halfback and one which very nearly cost Hudds a try.
If that’s Brough being ‘GREAT’ I can well understand why he has experienced such limited success throughout his career.

| Surely this answer to this debate is as follows... England halfbacks to be...
No. 6 - Kevin Sinfield - Mr consistency with an excellent all round game + wonderful goal kicker + England Captain
No. 7 - Danny Brough - pace + flair + superb general kicking game
i.e the best of both worlds + both true Englishmen and send Kiwi Rangi Chase packing back to Australia (off to play in the NRL anyway by all accounts).

No he didn’t, Many of kicks went straight to hand, none of them were dangerous. Even the kick which was praised to the high heavens by the commentary team wasn’t a ‘pin-point’ kick it was a hopeful punt up field which Hardaker made a meal of.

| Brough had a good first 40 mins with the boot but in attack in the 2nd half the only thing I can remember is throwing the ball into touch, a 2nd half which Leeds managed to force 3 drop outs through kicks to the in-goal area. Brough did stand up in defence but then again so did Sinfield who did even more work in that department. If any back won Hudds the game it was Cudjoe.
Was Brough better than Sinfield on Saturday, yes........was he excellent and put on a performance that would suggest he'd frighten the Aussies, no.
If you made the straight swap of Brough for Sinfield for England then he'd face the same problem as Sinfield did in the 2011 4 Nations final. Australia knew it was always going to be Sinfield getting it on the 5th and rushed out well to stop him (something Leeds defenders failed to do on Saturday)....Brough would struggle the same if given similar treatment.

| Huddersfield play well, Brough looks good, Giants fans get a boner and acclaim him as the best half back in the competition.
When Huddersfield play badly and get bent over though, it's always another part of the team's fault. Brough is teflon to Giants fans, he can do no wrong even when he does.
Second half on Saturday he disappeared into a Giant sized hole with the wind against him. His kicks were poor, his passing game was haphazard.
Numerous international coaches for England and GB have looked at him and gone "no thanks". Clearly, they have seen something in his game that those fans clamouring for his selection haven't.

So what was Sinfields game like? In Leeds two
biggest games so far this year (CC against Hudds and the WCC) Sinfield has fine missing in both.
For all the England coaches that said no thanks to Brough, how successful were England?

| You're seriously going to question Sinfield's performances in "big" games?
I'll let him have two bad ones, he's more than due after all the outstanding ones he's put in over the last 10 years.

Why not? People are questioning Wellens and he's had plenty of big games.

Once, with the rest of the team being even worse
Sinfield has a track record of going AWOL for England

| The problem with Sinfield is that he is the best captain in an England shirt but not the best player in either the 6 or 13 shirt. I would have Widdop as 6 and Sam or Lockers at 13 above Sinfield any day of the week. However he has to be fitted in somewhere.
Also how many Challenge Cup winners medals has Sinfield won?

The same amount as Sean O'Loughlin. He has also been awarded the Lance Todd award.
What was the point you were trying to make?
