you could have P & R with a help to the team promoted that they can't be relegated until third season so they can build from within. If they finish bottom in year 1 or 2 then the next team above them who hasn't been promoted in the last 2 years gets relegated. This would help as no new team coming up would be competitive in it's first year and would still struggle in year 2. It gives them time to build a squad with transfers and from their own academy.

I agree with that, I know the RFL release a summary along with a grade but I think it needs to be much more detailed with a relatively detailed report and a grade in each of the key areas (facilities, finances, youth, on-field performance etc) along with with the overall grade plus areas where each club needs to improve, and if they've improved on areas from last licensing round.

The above has been done before hasn't it ? I remember Cas Tigers finishing a place above the drop zone but were relegated instead of Catalans in their first year.

Yep Catalans were exempt from relegation to start with to give them time to become competitive, no-one can build a squad if you are promoted in September from the championship and start again in February in SL. there are just not the palyers available. Look at Widnes in their first year back in SL, they were the weakest team but are gradually improving

Salford look like the London of the North - wealthy backer, decent ground, no fans (especially as they were playing FC with their 1000's of travelling fans.

to defend the 3986 figure a little yesterday, the game was on t.v. Huddersfield played Widnes couple of week back and managed a mere 500 more & they are a team in second in the league and flying. We are a team at the foot on the league having lost 30 of our last 38. And on the flip side, 750 more there yesterday then the week before. Furthermore, we haven't been around 100+ years.

Fair enough but, Huddersfield attendances are generally poor, especially considering their lofty status in the league.

As a Salford fan I admit the promotion and advertising in the city is non existent. If I didn't have a fixture list at home or come on rlfans I wouldn't have known there was a match on yesterday. It needs looking at asap.
