| Personally i'd love to see a competitive Salford and i think i will...in at least 4 years.
It will be a slow burner, the really good players that are out of contract or after a better option will realise that success will take time to build, possibly not want to be part of the long game.
What i can see is Salford picking up the good but disruptive players eg Hock.
The talented but 2nd choice types sick of waiting in the wings.
The good players after the extra security of a longer contract than their current team can provide.
Young kids not interested in playing duel reg
Mercenaries.
Aussies/Kiwi's good enough to make an impact in SL but not good enough to stay in NRL team of their choice.
That will be the formula until they start to make the 8, after that mission is accomplished then he can start his mission to attract the best like Tomkins.
If he's in this for the long term i can see Salford competing in the playoffs in the future but not for at the very least 3 years but realistically 4 to 5 years.
I like the guy though.

Oh arnt I? It seems its your bulb that isn't so bright, I assume your talking about spending the percentage of your profits? Koukash only has to sponsor the club and he can spend what he likes as sponsorship is included in total yearly profits, so if he sponsors Salford for the 1.6 million cap that'll mean they'll be free to spend it.
You never heard of a football club by the name of manchester city? And there etihad airways sponsorship? It's a loop hole that businessmen will use to get around salary caps of such.

You're missing the point entirely. SL cap is not linked to revenue any more. He doesn't need creative accounting, via sponsorship or whatever, to pay £1.6million. He just needs the money or the means to secure loans to pay it. As for football, you're referring to Financial Fair Play - that's something different.
As for Koukash, he sounds impatient for results. Nothing wrong with that as long as he doesn't approach it too destructively and sack people toonquicky. From before he bought them, it was clear a) he wanted the ground and b) he knows he needs that to make Salford sustainable. He hasn't got the ground yet - I'm sure he'll update us on that very soon.
The only thing that would trouble me slightly if I was a Salford fan is his propensity to take the the local radio station and the local rag, the M.E.N. I appreciate he us trying to raise the profile and stuff but it might be sensible to reign it in a tad - doesn't want to become known as a bit of rent a quote, particularly if a lack of experience leads him to say something foolish.

| I did wonder Ian if that was a ploy to get cheap publicity/awareness, Salford need it and he's certainly keeping them in the public eye.

| Maybe the first thing he needs to do is play out board issues in the board room rather than through local radio.
Is he not a little embarrassed about the Tomkins affair. He has also missed out on Morley, Chase.... why not operate with some discretion and keep buisness plans to the board room
Slagging off players and insinuating the coach isnt up to it 10 mins after a loss on the radio doesnt suggest sound business acumen to me.

I think it's a breath of fresh air for the Salford fans to be honest, we've had 30 years of wilkinson keeping quiet and accepting mediocrity giving people who aren't upto the job far too much time, Koukash will not accept another 30 years of the same. He's not actually slagged anyone off, if you listen to his interview he says he will give people the chance to prove themselves and if they aren't up to the job their out the door. It was jack deardon who mentioned coaches not the Dr. He's got the right drive and is mearly apologising to the fans. Like I said he's a breath of fresh air.

I understand where you are coming from; a month ago you were gone now you have a great future ahead. That's fantastic not just for Salford but for RL
I do believe in time he will look back on his way of operating and think maybe it wasnt best for the club.
Its different for sure. The only real sell he has at the moment is money (and that is restricted) and a club on the up. Which top class players realistically will buy that?
Tomkin's is the darling of RL and at the big name at the biggest club in UK. The one he has followed. He is living a dream. The next step you would imagine for him will be massive International RU crowds and a big pay packet or a big NRL club with a significant salary...not Salford on the start of some guys dream
Who is the full back he said you would be signing Sat?

Was it Salford that leaked the news of these attempted signings or Wigan/Warrington/Castleford?

| Lots of clubs go for lots of players that we never get to hear about.
Are you now suggesting a conspiracy by the clubs against the Reds?
Who is the FB the Dr said you were signing Sat? Im curious to know who it is and whether it fits in with what he is saying!

Eh? How did you get all Mulder and Scully from a straightforward question?

...'cause the Dr said on Fri night 10 mins after the game it would be signed up Sat. In keeping with his very public profile I thought this would be another way to keep him and his club on the front pages

| The best way to attract players to a club with a low profile is a Grade A coach, he should pay top dollar for a big name Aussie coach.
