They might be better off not having the likes of Ferriol playing for them, that'll bring the penalty count down.
Also regarding Toulouse, i remember watching them a few times and they constantly tried to slow the game down, perhaps they should employ Darryl Powell to show them how to slow down the PTB but get away with it.

I do see the major finals/attendance point in regards to fan numbers. The RFL do seem to prefer certain teams getting to them. But to threaten to quit Super League seems very childish. Every club gets decisions that go against them throughout the season.

The language barrier, for the French players at Catalan at least, has to have an impact. I've been convinced for some time that the Dragons get a raw deal - this was particularly evident in their first three years when they were by far the most penalised team in the league over that period. Things have seemed to get better but I'm sure many of the players inevitably fail to build a rapport with the referees during a game.
Is there a conspiracy though? No.

I don't know that it's deteriorated, the constant and increasing amount of tv replays of any wrong/controversial decision combined with the speed of the game can sometimes make the reffing seem worse than it is, but I would say that the reffing hasn't improved as much as it should have done. Especially considering they have been full time for a few years now. |
