yes, he has been inconsistent by his own admission
Remi Casty has been outstanding in the home games this season either as an impact sub or starter - the captaincy has given him an extra edge
he won't get any MOM award in a million years cos' he's not in a 'sexy' position like Chase,Tomkins or Dureau etc but he really has been exceptional this season and is the Catalans player of the season by far

| Quote: Exeter Rhino "I would be quite happy if Tomkins wins it. He is one of the few genuine superstars in SL and deserves to be recognised accordingly.
With my Leeds hat on I think Kevin Sinfield deserves to be in the mix this year. Pretty much the only time Tomkins was found wanting came in the CC semi against Leeds, and this was largely Sinfield's doing. He hasn't been as consistent, but a good performance in the final against Wire could bring him into contention.'"
He'll need to win the CC on his own to win MoS this season.

Ok, I'll back down on that.
Always impressed me on Sky and his name pops up in a lot of tackles and breaks on Sky/Radio commentary.
But just perused his actual stats, and they paint a far less rosier picture.

| The one-eyed knuckle dragging bitterness and bile on this thread is just too funny.
If you don't think that Sam Tomkins is the best player in SL you need to give your head a shake...

I think he's the most talented player in SL but don't think he should be MOS this season

He has by far been the best player in Super League this season and by his standards he has still had quiet games. Sam Tomkins stats speak for themselves and if he doesn't win it this year, then it will be a travesty.

Why a travesty? He doesn't have the god divine right to win it because he plays for Wigan.
He's played in the best team so far this year and is constantly on the front foot running at battered teams. Yes, he has been superb, there's no questioning that but would he have had the same impact in a team on the back foot quite like Rangi Chase managed at Cas last year? Who knows. Not saying he doesn't deserve it either, but I'd go with someone else.
FWIW Michael Monaghan was by far the best player in the competition last year IMO but he didn't win it. Hardly a travesty - just showed the players respect for Rangi's efforts.
For me it should be James Roby, without him I believe Saints would have been distinctly average and would be nothing more than a mid-table team this year. Everything seems to go through him, completely. Instead he's managed to keep them chasing 2nd until Monday's defeat.

What the hell has it got to do with the fact that he plays for Wigan? Doesn't always have to be about Wigan, now matter how much you would like it to be. Fact is, he has been the best player in Super League this year. 2nd top try scorer, 1st in try assists, 1st in clean breaks, 1st in tackle busts, its impressive stuff.
I'd agree Roby has been consistently good over the past 3 or 4 seasons, but I reckon this season may have possible been his worse, but still far better than any other hooker in Super League.

| Any quick player with basic ball skills would have similar stats playing FB in that Wigan team. The hysteria around Tomkins is laughable. Cant catch bombs, average in defence, terrible attitude. When he plays well in a grand final, c cup final or in an England shirt Ill reconsider. In the meantime everyone needs to get over the fact we have a quick player who's English.

so your admitting you don't watch much rugby league then?
but I'll admit he does have to much of a winning attitude and he needs to tune it down a bit.
hes already been hes fantastic normal self in a grand final against saints and it was only a fantastic performance from Tommy who stopped him winning man of the match. wouldn't exactly say he played poor against Leeds in the challenge cup final he did set Joel up for that fantastic try but he did play a lot better against wire in the semi. he played fantastic against the Aussies in the 1st game of the last 4 nations with a lot of Aussies fans calling him a "Gun", i suggest you watch the highlights on YouTube.
there is plenty of fast England players i would say Atkins is the fastest, but if you just think Sam is just fast what do you think of billy Slater? or is Inglis just big and strong?
good to see there is still the green eyed fans out there even if the majority have realized hes no fluke or flash in the pan.
