They manage to operate as a charity reasonably well, unfortunatley I dont think we'll have Bob organising concerts or swearing at people on TV to support them when the current ' well ' dries up

Bradford is a red herring. Pay particular attention to two statements they made when the crisis first surfaced 1) "We need £1m from the fans to survive this year" 2) "A number of immediate issues mean we need it now, including a £1m tax bill falling due, for VAT and PAYE". It was not "the daft franchise experiment" that made the club's previous management collect tax from its fans (VAT) and employees (PAYE) then pocket the money as its own.

As HIM said, the solution is not to reduce the number of clubs in Superleague, it is to improve the grassroots identification, nurturing and development of talent. More money should be thrown at the youth and amateur game to assist this. Reducing the number of teams in the elite competition is a rank admission, not just of failure but also blindness to any solution.

Added to which: Supposed problem:" There's not enough talent." Proposed solution: "Reduce the number of academies and development pathways producing professional talent by two. That should sort it" = pure bat loonytunes bonkersness, even by RL fans' standards.

As of next year the leagues will probably go SL: 14, CH: 14, CH1: 10. If super league was to go back down to twelve clubs that would leave 26 clubs left, I believe, between two divisions. 13 teams a division? Or maybe a 12, 14 split? But would the smaller more amateur based clubs like south Wales, northampton and London be able to sustain 13 away games a year including northern rail cup etc etc?

Just remember this we have never beaten the Aussies in a series when we have had P & R. We have never won a world cup when we have had p & R.
If we reduce the number of clubs to 12 its any 2 from 4. Hull Fc or Rovers. No need for 2 Super League clubs in one small city. Wakefield or Castleford. No need for 2 Super League clubs in that same area who come under the same council.

They've had crowds of 2,800 in the 2 league games against each other this season and that's only in the Championship so if they were in SL I can't envisage a single gate below 4,000.

IIRC, in the 8 years that Fax were in SL they averaged 5 to 6 thousand.

Yes, but that would then encourage those clubs to use their juniors , and the stability of having a franchise helps bring in investement
