| Quote: Smew "Absolutely hating the Sky commentation nowadays, especially with Tez & Baz adding to the non stop incessant chattering. Thought the beeb commentators didn't seem half as bad in comparison - even though it was only Ray French and Jonathan Davies.'"
Ray French introduced the oxymoronic concept of the 'possible certain try'. Pure Colemanballs.

Up there with Hemmings at the start of the 2nd half Wolves V cats: "it's a carbon copy of the first half - in reverse"

Boxing is also not boring, unlike other games and pastimes that are played in long pants.'"
Bouts are determined by knock outs just ask khan and chisora
Many fights go to the judges but there is no other way to resolve a bout
Boxing is most definitely a sport, any suggestion otherwise is ludicrous

| Quote: cod'ead "Golf is not, never has been and never will be a sport.
There are two simple tests for what does and does not qualify to be a sport
1) Is it played in long pants?
2) Does it require the subjective view of a judge or panel of judges to decide the scoring (and ultimate winner)?
If the answer to either of the above is "yes" then it quite clearly is not a sport.'"
No there isnt. You are trying to appear clever but coming across as an idiot.
You may not like golf but trying to come up with some stupid test to not call it a sport is ridiculous, especially as your argument as been so easily disproved.

No change there then.

| When's Ray French going to call it a day? The French and Davies combo, they're like a Granddad/Grandson combo. Gives me real earache.

| I can't see what the fuss is about - a minor delay, no rugby was missed and an army of golf fans weren't left up in arms; good bit of juggling by the BBC.
That good work didn't continue in the commentary though - French and Davies are woeful and neither of them sounded like they had much of a clue what was going on, other than French constantly reminding us that one player or another is a 'powerful lad.'
I do like Clare Balding though - her jolly hockeysticks enthusiasm for the game is very infectious.

| Lets turn this around...
The rugby is on before the Golf and overuns by going to extra time.... I'm pretty certain they would delay the start of the golf coverage.
No rugby was missed. Some people just moan for the sake of it.

Any game that takes five days to complete and has breaks so that the participants can have "lunch & tea" could never be classed as sport.

You may as well include: darts, ballroom dancing, snooker, poker & floodlit dominoes then, given your interpretation

Did you get hit by a stray golf ball when you were younger ?
Golf is just an afternoon out (away from 'er indoors) with a pub at the end
As for the Beeb, no harm done.
Although the commentary in so dated, its shocking.

| I'm enjoying people rising to Coddy's bait on the definition of a sport. I used to wind the kids up with my definition of a sport, which was even stricter (if there was no ball involved it wasn't a sport!), and basically boiled down to rugby league and possibly football.
