| I was pretty made up by the signing of Ellis, but this thread and the one on the Leeds board has been the icing on the cake.
Keep it up, chaps.

As for Ellis, cracking player, superstar of world rugby, will be a fantastic signing!'"
Both of whom have played well so far this season, and are stop-gap signings until Gentle has the time/budget to reshape his squad.

| Quote: Sibbs Rhinos "Ok, they are solid players, but not much more imo. Ellis is a cut above those mentioned but the likes of Seymour, Hermenia and O'caroll aren't exactly world beaters. Lynch isn't getting younger, but Mckinnon does look good from what I've seen so far. It's just coming across to me like the Hull fans seem to think like this signing is the difference between being a mid table side to one of the top sides. You have a bit to go yet.'"
Heremaia hasn't even played in SL for us yet.
Lynch has been our stand out player all season, he has made the 3rd highest number of meters despite playing a game less than most other teams.
Seymour may not be the best halfback in the world, but having gambled on the injury prone Head, Dykes and Long in recent years we decided to go for a younger option with a better injury record.
The jury is still out on O'Caroll (he has picked up a worrying amount of knocks already)
Ellis is not the final piece of the jigsaw for us, we still need to secure key players like Moa, O'Meley and Manu to new deals, and need to strengthen at Right Centre, Wing and possibly No6 (I personally feel Horne is now to slow to play there) but this signing is a massive step in the right direction for a club that has fallen rapidly backwards since the end of 2007.

| Quote: spooky "Fair point. Other fans are probably not aware of the sweeping changes that have been made since the old regime and just how bad things had gotten under Uncle Kath, James Rule & Richard Agar. I can tell you that until Pearson took over, most Hull fans were frustrated that a club with such potential was stagnating because of poor player development and a 3rd rate coach (amongst other things). We may have been on the verge a few years back but the appointment of Agar and the unwillingness of the Board to invest where needed took us backwards.
There's been clear intent all over the shop from Pearson that he aims to make us a top side and win silverware. One thing that makes him stand out is that it's clearly not all talk. His actions over such a short period of time speak volumes. If I were a player being courted by Hull FC this would certainly grab my attention.'"
That Hull have been willing and able to do this is very impressive. Everything else to date, you couldn't criticisize, but was steady rather than spectacular. If Hull do kick on and start challenging, I can easily imagine this coming to be seen as the signing that was the catalyst.
Until you do, it'll be mockery for naivety and presumption. There's a little bit of a nervous edge to it though, I reckon. Intrigued to see how it develops - hoping it flops, obviously.

| great signing for us, (fc), not too long ago we made the grand final with a team nobody expected us to get there with, unfortunatly all our last board was more concerned with was making money from us fans and not investing in the club from the juniors to senior level, posters (mainly leeds fans) say signing ellis wont win us any competitions, do they think we won't be signing anybody else for next season or the next 3 whilst gareth is here? the signing of ellis will send out a message to other quality players that hull fc are classed as serious contenders and a big club who want to be at the top!

Can't see anyone out of Wigan, Warrington, Leeds or Saints putting in a big bid, though I'd be surprised if they hadn't shown any interest.
For example, would have loved him at Wigan but he was probably asking a hefty sum and our pack situation doesn't need him.'"
How has Lauaki played for you so far

Hull have a new coach, one with a good pedigree and now we are starting to make some very astute signings, we are going in the right direction....'"
Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t realise G.E had a crystal ball, you need to get that chip off your shoulder.
My point simply is, Ellis is a winner, if a neutral were to put money on which clubs were going to win silverware in the next three years, where would it be?
I’m pleased that Hull are going in the right direction, however, if I was looking at winning stuff, Leeds would surely be the place to go.

Lynch
Seymour
McKinnon
Rome was not build in a day, but Pearson was not involved in that job
Still a building process. No one expects over night success, as long as progress is being made. Realistically this season, hull to finish 5, a good punt for CC.
With a quality centre and a star stand off to be signed over the next 18 months, I'd say hull would be decent each way bet for 2013 to make the GF and for 2014 to have fair crack at winning it.
Only my opinion of course.

Without wanting to sound like your user name, if guaranteed silverware was on Ellis agenda then I would have thought warrington would have been the place. He would be the perfect replacement for Solomona who will out of contract at the end of the season.
With all due respect to Leeds, they did it the hard way in the play offs last season and fair play. But with an ageing front row, I would find it hard to believe that most Leeds fans would pick JJB and Ablett ahead of Ellis in their pack.

| Tbh I'd take not just Ellis but also Manu over JJB and Ablett. Manu is a freak of a player who can make something out of nothing.

Let’s be fair, Ellis would get in any team in Superleague, even any in the NRL, now that’s impressive.
Any supporter, from any club who says he wouldn’t enhance their team is in denial.
I take your point regarding Warrington, however, just look through the G.F stats of recent years.
Maybe Ellis is some sort of sage, he’s reviewed all the top squads & decided Hull’s the place to be for more winner’s rings, however, if I were to personally have flutter, I just think Leeds will be there or there about.
He just may want a new challenge, & good luck to him.
