Yes, a legend of RL, but not particularly of RL at Wembley.

This statue is to commemorate "Rugby League’s historic role in the rich and colourful story of Wembley". Not a great RL player for being a great RL player.

If not him, then rather than Edwards I would suggest Hanley. Given this is of importance outside Wigan I think the individual needs to have performed creditably at the stadium for GB as well as just for club. Ellery was captain I think in the 1990 test match and coach in 1994. Edwards' GB record at Wembley is somewhat less impressive.

If you say Edwards then you have to consider Sean Long - THREE Lance Todd trophies cannot be ignored...
